Just learned that Harley Ratto of Stockton, CA, passed away today.

Harley was one of the very early members here at Slotblog, having joined on May 1, 2006. His display name as BigDaddySlotRat. He wasn't a high volume poster, but he always had something interesting to say. His last post here was almost ten years ago, in August 2011.

Wish I had been able to meet him. Anyone into slot cars and hot rods is my kind of guy.

My condolences to his wife Janice and to all his extended family and friends.

Never forget that first place goes to the racer with the MOST laps, not the racer with the FASTEST lap

I remember Harley being on here. I think he owned a raceway at one time. He was a good friend of Dave Larsen, who has also been gone from here for years. But he occasionally pops up on Facebook. Harley had another close Cali slot car friend, whose name currently escapes me. I think Harley was into preparing meals for slot car events, too.

IIRC Harley was a serious BBQ pitmaster.

And I remember that he was a track owner as well.

When I lived in Fresno in the late '90s, I recall going to races in Modesto and Stockton and one of the cool things was that Harley provided his super BBQ for all the racers.  We always had a great crowd when he was providing the food!
