RACE RESULTS from THURSDAY 29 JULY 2021

 

JK WIDE INDY - Scott Thomason and Simon Duffey put on a great show remaining on the same lap throughout the race.  When the power went off after the final segment, Scott had track position and the win.  The duo shared best segment honors (20) with third placed Courtney Smith.  Simon scored fast lap (5.579).

 

 

 

PRO-TRACK 4" DLM - Simon Duffey had another same-lap runner-up finish, this time to Matt Hicks.  Once again Simon notched fast lap (2.456) and had best segment all to himself (49).  Mark Trest and Connor Hicks were on the same lap for third with Mark getting the position by about 12 feet.  

 

 

 

7/30/2021 - Brackets on the Drag Strip.  The Raceway will open at 5:00 with the first round at 7:00.

RACE RESULTS from TUESDAY 27 JULY 2021

 

GRC 4.5" Stock Car (TN GA Oval Series Rules) - Gary Leninsky had a narrow lead over Jimmy Elliott for most of the main, but once Jimmy got to the lower lanes he was able to get around Gary taking Matt Hicks with him.  

 

Gary held off Caleb Johnston for the final podium position.  Caleb had the fastest lap of the race (he was the only racer to go under 2.500 with his 2.489), and shared best segment honors (47) with Jimmy and Matt.

IT WASN'T PLANNED THAT WAY, BUT IT TURNED OUT TO BE THOMASON FAMILY NIGHT AT THE RACEWAY!  

 

 

There was ALOT of good-natured trash talk and even a little slot car racing!

 

THANK YOU, Allen, Billy, Daniel, Ethan, Eugene and Scott for making our night.  And thanks to Danny for hanging out and helping turn marshal.  

 

 

Allen T. had the hottest car on the Oval.  He didn't lead until the final segment, but in that segment ran fast lap (2.063), best segment (56) and drove around Scott T. for the win.  Eugene T. also recorded race laps in the 2.0's and completed the podium.  

 

 

 

Scott then scored the trifecta on the LTD with the win, fast lap (5.635) and best segment (21).  Allen and Ethan T. had a race long dice for the runner-up spot.  Ultimately Allen got the position by about 1/2 lap.

RACE RESULTS 03 AUGUST 2021

 

4.5" GRC -  This one was never in doubt!  Rick Brown made the trip from Greenback to lead every segment on his way to a comfortable win.  Mark Evans made it a 1-2 finish for the "Dodge Boys" also scoring fast lap (2.325) and sharing best segment honors (50) with Rick.  Matt Hicks completed the podium.  Rick and Mark were the only racers to go sub-2.400.  

 

 

 

AWRA DLM - Mark Evans picked up where he left off two weeks ago, though Matt Hicks made it a race. Mark took the lead about one minute into the final segment in securing the win.  Matt held off a fast Scot Adkins for the runner-up spot.  Mark also notched both best segment (45) and fast lap (2.664).  He was the only racer to go sub-2.700.

 

 

 

We hope everyone returned home safely and hope to see you all Thursday night for JK WIDE INDY and PRO-TRACK 4" DIRT LATE MODELS.

RACE RESULTS from Thursday 05 Aug 2021

 

JK WIDE INDY

 

Scott Thomason lead pretty much from wire to wire also garnering fast lap (5.578) and best segment (21) along the way.  Nick Farris and Mark Trest completed the podium.

 

 

 

PRO-TRACK 4" DIRT LATE MODEL

 

When you have a large field - and we did - the racing is usually pretty close - and it was!  Like last week, the top two were on virtually the same lap with the third place finisher only about 10 seconds behind.  Nick Farris edged Matt Hicks for the win and also scored the "trifecta" (fast lap - 2.416, best segment - 49).  

 

 

 

TONIGHT - Friday 06 Aug 2021:  Let's do some Bracket Racing on the Drag Strip.  The Raceway will open at 5:00 with the first round at 7:00.  

 

TOMMOROW - Saturday 07 Aug 2021:  Regular Weekly NOVICE/4" JK STOCK CAR & JK Box-Stock LMP races.  

 

The Raceway will open at 5:00, with NOVICE & JK 4" STOCK CAR tech at 5:30.

RACE RESULTS from Tuesday 10 Aug 2021.

 

4.5" GRC/FCR STOCK CAR

 

Rick Brown was off his pace from last week, but was still quick enough to get the win and edge runner-up Ethan Thomason for fast lap (2.462). Third place finisher, Gary Leninsky, shared best segment honors (46) with Rick and Ethan.

 

 

 

WOMP DIRT LATE MODEL

 

We welcomed two new Womp racers into the fold this evening!

Rick made it two-for-two on the night by getting the win and sharing best segment honors (43) with Ethan Thomason. Ethan scored fast lap (2.754) and held off his dad, Scott, for second.

 

 

 

It was really good to see Jon Brogdon again as he stopped by to chat and see what was going on.

 

We hope to see a bunch of you Thursday evening for JK WIDE INDY and PRO-TRACK 4" DIRT LATE MODEL.

Fifteen cars signed in for our Tuesday night JK WIDE INDY and PRO-TRACK 4" DIRT LATE MODEL program.

 

JK SPEC WIDE INDY (On the LTD)

 

"Sconzo" Thomason pulled away early and scored what was at least his third straight win also getting fast lap (5.322) and best race segment (22). Steve Shelburne and Mark Trest had a great race for the runner-up spot with Mark pulling away late for the position.

 

 

 

PRO-TRACK 4" DIRT LATE MODELS (On the Oval)

 

The racing was a bit chaotic and with the round-robin format, we couldn't be sure who was doing what until it was all over. When the dust settled, Michael Foster and Caleb Johnston were on the same lap for the win with Mike having a straight-away advantage. Connor Hicks was only 1-1/2 laps back and edged Gary Laninsky for third. Mike and Caleb were the only racers to run laps in the 2.4's with Mike being just a bit quicker at 2.409. Mike and Connor recorded race segments of 47 laps.

RACE RESULTS - TUES 19 AUG 2021

 

JK WIDE INDY

 

 

 

Michael Foster made a last minute decision to borrow the "house" car then claimed the tri-fecta:  race win, fast lap (5.488) and best segment (20).  Mark Trest was within a lap of the leader for most of the race and held off Caleb Johnston for the runner-up spot.

 

PRO-TRACK 4" DIRT LATE MODEL

 

 

 

Matt Hicks and WIDE INDY winner Mike Foster raced to a same lap finish with Matt getting the win by the length of the driver's straight.  Matt edged Caleb Johnston by .005 for fast lap (2.479) while Mike ran best segment (48). Gary Leninsky came on late to get around Mark Trest for third.  

 

 

SATURDAY - It's the third Saturday of the month, so we'll be racing GTP and GROUP-F wing cars in addition to our regular Saturday afternoon JK 4" STOCK and LMP cars.

RACE RESULTS - SATURDAY 21 AUG 2021

 

JK 4" STOCK CAR 

 

 

 

Dad (Allan) put a fresh motor and new body on son Hunter Thomason's car and Hunter made the most of it getting the win in his first start in many months!  Allan was on the same lap for the runner-up spot and recorded best segment (55).  "Uncle Kevin" Thomason completed the podium.  Four racers ran laps in the 2.0's with Easton Foster being the quickest at 2.015.  

 

JK LMP

 

 

 

It was a good race, but Alan Ingram led wire-to-wire, set fast lap (5.263) and best segment (22) while holding off Scott Thomason.  Allen Thomason scored another podium finish.  

 

GTP/Group-F

 

Scott and Alan traded places in this one as we combined the two classes into one race.  Lap times were actually similar and the GTP car proved - for the moment - to be a bit easier to drive.  Scott and Alan also shared best segment (15 laps - shortened segments) with Daniel Thomason recording fast lap (4.445).  Third overall was Kevin Thomason.

GRC 4.5" STOCK CAR

 

Caleb Johnston led Gary Leninsky by a lap following segment 1 and that's how the duo finished the GRC 4.5" STOCK CAR feature.  Caleb also recorded fast lap (2.413) and best segment (36).  Bobby Backmarker (not pictured) was third.

JK WIDE INDY

 

 

 

Alan Ingram purchased a new JK WIDE INDY just before race time (for his son Benjamin) then drove it to best segment (21) and the win!  Mark Trest and Ethan Couch had a great race for the runner-up spot. Mark ultimately secured second and Ethan claimed fast lap (5.523).

 

PRO-TRACK 4" DIRT LATE MODEL

 

 

 

Matt Hicks bested the large field with the win - and a lot less sheet metal!  Caleb Johnston and Ethan Couch were on the same lap for second and third.  Once again Ethan was edged our for the runner-up spot, but claimed fast lap (2.459).

 

Friday 27 Aug:  The Raceway will be closed.  We'll see everyone saturday  at 5:00 for JK 4" STOCK CAR and JK LMP.

 

NEXT WEEKEND (Labor Day Weekend):  The Raceway will be closed Friday and Saturday as Judi and Bill will be celebrating their Anniversary!

RACE RESULTS - Tuesday 31 August 2021

 

4.5" GRC STOCK CAR 

 

 

 

Jimmy Elliott was fast early, but he and Tyler Flowers each had some mechanical hiccups during the race allowing Scott Thomason to take a relatively easy win.  Tyler and Jimmy finished 2-3 with Tyler running fast lap (2.412).  Scott also recorded best segment (47).

 

WOMP DIRT LATE MODEL

 

 

 

Jimmy Elliott was fast again scoring fast lap (2.604) and best segment (44) on his way to the win.  Tyler Flowers edged Scott for the runner-up spot.  

 

REMEMBER WOMP RACERS:  Beginning next Tuesday, our DLM's will follow the AWRA STOCK CAR guidelines for motors.  This will allow the used of The JK Mini-Brute and H&R Lightning!  

 

Thursday 02 Sept 2021:  JK WIDE INDY (LTD) and PRO-TRACK 4" DIRT LATE MODELS (Oval).  The Raceway will open at 5:00p.m., JK WIDE INDY tech at 6:30.

RACE RESULTS from TUESDAY 07 SEPT 2021

 

4.5" GRC STOCK CAR 

 

It was a light, but very quick crowd as all cars entered recorded race laps in the 2.4's!  

 

 

 

Caleb Johnston was the quickest of all with a fast lap of 2.306.  He began the race on white, led the first segment and the race was on for second.  It was Scott Thomason's for a few segments then Steve Shelburne took over.  Ultimately, Gary Laninski secured the spot with Steve holding off Scott for third.  Caleb also claimed best segment (50).  

 

The Raceway Cleveland will be receiving the new MID-AMERICA GRC/STOMP motors this week and will be switching the GRC class to them by the 21st.  The GRC 4 ½" Stock Car class will not have spec gearing and will run races at a more normal voltage.  

 

Let's hope we can get the "transmissions" in these cars to hold up!

RACE RESULTS from THURSDAY 09 SEPT 2021

Scott Thomason and Mark Trest went 1-2 again this week with "Sconzo" once again claiming fast lap (5.383) and best segment (21).  Ray Cote made the trek from Murphy NC to complete the podium.  

 

PRO-TRACK 4" DIRT LATE MODEL

 

 

 

 

Gary Laninsky and Caleb Johnston also repeated their 1-2 finish from last week.  They also once again tied for best segment (47).  This week, however Gary edged Caleb for fast lap with a 2.434 to Caleb's 2.484.  Scott Thomason and Mark Trest finished on the same lap with Scott having track position to get a podium with his just-purchased new car in his first DLM race!

 

NEW ITEM:

 

MID-AMERICA:  GRC/STOMP motor.  This is the motor that is now coming in all GRC ready to runs.  We will be changing over to this motor for the GRC 4.5" Stock Car class beginning September 21st. Bill Pinch will test the new setup and provide a recommended gearing in the next few days.

GRC Stock Car:

 

 

 

Caleb Johnston bagged fast lap (2.367) and best segment (48) on his way to what looked to be another win.  He suffered some mild mechanical hiccups mid-race and by the time they were sorted, Gary Laninsky had driven by and stayed out front for the duration.  Caleb held off Steve Shelburne for the runner-up spot.  

 

REMINDER:  Next Tuesday we switch to the new Mid-America GRC/STOMP motors for this class!

RACE RESULTS - THURSDAY 16 SEPT 2021

 

JK WIDE INDY SPEC

 

 

 

Scott Thomason and Mark Trest were tied after segment one.  "Sconzo" slowly pulled away from there to a comfortable win, best segment (21) and fast lap (5.477).  It was all Mark could do to hold of Ethan Couch for the runner-up spot.  

 

PRO-TRACK 4" DIRT LATE MODEL

 

 

 

We had an incredibly fast field and clean race as everyone drove brilliantly and piled up the laps!  Last week's winning lap total would have finished 6th this week!  Ethan Couch and Gary Leninsky separated themselves from the rest of the field by segment five then had a great race to the finish.  Ethan claimed the win and best segment (49).  Gary scorched the track with a fast lap of 2.409.  Mark Trest, Sconzo and Caleb Johnston were all on the same lap for the final podium position with Mark having track position.  

 

We hope to see some of you Friday night for Brackets and as we continue to test & tune for Saturday's AWRA HAMMERFEST!

The AWRA HAMMERFEST turn-out what not what we'd hoped, but the racing was clean and quite close!  Apparently the weather outside is too nice still. Thanks to those who were able to make the show a good one!

RACE RESULTS - 4.5" GRC STOCK CAR 

 

 

A software glitch on the Oval prompted a move to the LTD Flat Track for Tuesday night's feature.  With the new spec motor and cars set up to turn left, the first minute or so was . . . . amusing!

 

 

 

Jimmy Elliott adapted the quickest and reminded us that he is actually a very talented road racer as he scored fast lap (6.301) and best segment (18) on his way to the win.  Steve Shelburne showed his versatility as he took a solid second.  Sean Truelove, running his first race in a long while, drove a Jimmy Elliott loaner to third.

 

We should have the glitch taken care of in time for Thursday night's PRO TRACK 4" DIRT LATE MODEL show.

RACE RESULTS - Tuesday 27 Sept 2021

 

4.5" GRC STOCK CAR: (Oval)

 

 

 

We had a good field and tight racing as Steve Shelburne, Tyler Flowers, Gary Leninsky and Caleb Johnston all led at some point.  Tyler led the longest, but was caught by both Gary and Caleb in the final segment.  Caleb and Gary finished 1-2 on the same lap with Tyler holding off Steve for the final podium position.  Caleb also nabbed fast lap (2.513) and best segment (47).

This was the first night racing with the CAVEMAN STAMPEDE motor as an option.  Trent at On The Edge noticed it was already on the AWRA approved list for STOCK CARS, and those are the guidelines we have been using for the DLM's (just changing the body).  

 

It honestly might be too fast!  I didn't have a proper frame of reference when I raced with one Monday night at On The Edge's as their oval is much larger.  

 

The speed differential was very noticeable here as Caleb Johnston (the only entrant who was using the STAMPEDE) led wire-to-wire, had a pair of 51-lap segments and recorded race laps in the 2.2's with a fast lap of 2.242 (those are JK STOCK CAR times!)  Tyler Flowers was our runner-up with Scott Thomason taking third.

RACE RESULTS - THURSDAY 30 SEPT 2021

 

We had another houseful tonight as we closed out the month with some close racing in both JK WIDE INDY and PRO-TRACK 4" DIRT LATE MODEL.

 

JK WIDE INDY:  (LTD)

 

 

 

Last week's winner, "Sconzo" Thomason repeated but Mark Trest was right on his wicker-bill as the duo shared best segment (21).  Mark took home fast lap (5.401) with Caleb Johnston completing the podium.  

 

DIRT LATE MODEL:  (Oval)

 

 

 

The field was incredibly hooked-up as everyone turned race laps in the 2.5's and some super-clean racing resulted in very high lap totals.  Simon Duffey's winning total last week would have placed him third tonight!  Caleb Johnston and Steve Shelburne finished 1-2 and shared best segment honors (48).  Gary Laninsky was a very close third.  All three racers turned race laps in the 2.4's with Gary being quickest at 2.441.  

 

FRIDAY 10/1:  RETRO "TEST & TUNE" from 5:00 to 9:00.

 

                        Bracket Racing on the Drag Strip. First round at 7:00

 

SATURDAY 10/2:  RETRO RACING COMES TO CLEVELAND!  The Raceway will open at 8:00a.m. with STOCK CAR tech at 9:30.  The STOCK CARS will be raced on the Oval.  Once that program is complete, we will move to the Flat Track for GT COUPE, CAN-AM and F-1/INDY.
