Greetings!
I was perusing one of Capt' Ricks (AKA dc-65x) projects - specifically his "Dual Motor Madness" THREAD which got me inspired and I wanted to try my hand at a similar but different type of build.
Thanks, Rick, for the inspiration!
So, we have here my attempt at a direct-drive dual motor setup.
Before I proceed with photos, I wanted give credit where credit is due, to extend, once again, another "Thank you" to Mike Swiss, for not only being the originator of the direct-drive concept but also providing the video (which doesn't seem to be available any more) which has and still inspires me to build these and continue to experiment.
Let us proceed!
Fabricated the chassis plate from my usual G10 phenolic composite sheet.
Attached the fabricated aluminum motor brackets and body mounts.
Guide tongue and front wheels/brackets mounted.
Motors mounted.
Motor shafts sleeved - everything else mounted and ready for a test run.
Test results.
The platform runs very well and very quiet.
It does have an exceptionally long coasting range! LOL.
Other than that it does run well on my test track.
I enjoyed the challenge and glad it works.
Thanks for looking.
Ernie

You can't have too many motors in a slot car Ernie. Nice job!

agreed, great piece of engineering! should have amazing traction and brakes! does it require a dual trigger controller? or two entry fees in a race? much more interesting than a 4 wheel drive set up. well done!

Ernie, I've been a big fan of your phenolic composite designs for some time now and really love the simplicity of this one. Well done!
