The September installment of RMRRA retro racing found us in Wichita, Kansas, the home of 316 Slot Car Raceway. Located in a shopping mall in the west side of Wichita, it is a clean, bright, inviting raceway.

We started out the day with 20 entries for Stock Car racing on the King.  After qualifying, the field was divided into an A main and a B main with 10 cars in each.

 

 

In the B main, Glen Evans set the pace early with Don Hodge and Loye Washing ton fighting for the runner-up spot and Kelly Brown not far behind. Glen never gave up the lead and took the B main win with Don in second place, and Loye one lap back in third.

 

 

In the Stock Car A main, Jeff Long set a blistering pace with Alan Wilkinson pushing him all the way and   Justin Kill and Rick Werth not far behind.  Ultimately, Jeff took the win by 2 track sections over the hard charging Alan, with Justin holding onto third. In addition to the winner’s plaque, Jeff was presented with a nicely painted Noose Stock Car body, graciously donated by Kevin Myhaver of Oklahoma City.

I'd like to thank Richard With for the pictures, I missed a lot of opportunities to get pictures throughout the day. I'd also like the thank Alan Dodson, Nick Edgington, and everyone that helped the event to run smoothly. I'm sure I messed up someone's name, for that I apologize.

In F1 we had 21 entries split into a B main with 10 racers and an A main with 11.

 

 

Justin Kill set the pace with a brisk 4.660 lap, followed closely by Colton Branch with a 4.684 and Stock Car winner Jeff Long with a 4.704 lap.

 

 

In the B main, Paul Murr set the pace early and never relinquished the lead, with  A J Hoyt close behind along with local racer Kenny Coleman rounding out the podium.

 

 

With 11 racers in the A main, we had 3 sit outs. Jeff Long set a blistering pace that no other racer was able to match. He took first place with a comfortable 283 laps. Kirby Robe took second seven laps back at 276 laps with Rick Werth in third at 274

In the Can Am class, we had 26 entries, split into a C main of 9 racers, a B main of 9 racers, and an A main of 8 racers.
