If you can find a Champion 707, you got a 36D with a hot rewound arm & very good magnets, already done. A few of them were factory ball bearing too. I've not recently hunted for 36D hop-up parts, so I don't know if some are still available or not. My thought is the pickings are pretty slim. Regular drag guys should be better informed.

I'm not up on 36D winds, since you have the arm blank & 27 wire, wrap on what you think is appropriate.  27T/27 sounds too hot, might be a smoker. 50T/27 might be too much. Remember, you're using a stock comm or do you have a higher quality one to substitute?

Funny you should ask. Will this suffice ? Bear in mind we're only running a 1/8 Mile. I bid on a 501 & a 601 last month. 60+US$. They are Wacked .

That's a stock comm, might be the same as what's already on the blank. I was looking for some 36D info on Slotblog. John Havlicek said a good starting point for a 36D wind was 55-60T of 29. Anything hotter is apt to melt stock endbells. He also said hotter winds & stock magnets don't perform to their fullest. So your 50T of  27 may be too hot too, It could be just a smoker, even on a 1/8 strip. Do you know it's voltage & amperage?

Don't know if anyone else noticed this . The new cobalt mini motor mags cut in 1/2 should be the ticket. Or , it could become a Spacex impersonator.

Yeah, 36D's are going to use around 29 or 28 wire. With Champion endbell and ARCO's or stronger mags use around 55-60 of 28. Don't crank the timing to far though, 10 degrees is as far as I would go. This also definitely requires a balance.

Well, this is going to be a long protracted build. So to get things started and, to be able to quantify the progress, I'll start with a stock 36-D. Pick a Colour. If I do, it will never get done!

As far as winding,40-30/#26 is (now that I found them) is what I have in my notes. Somewhere, there's a definite Slick-7((of course) article(thread)on multiple mags. In the arm & mag picture, I need to check the effect of the leading & trailing length. Please correct me on the terminology of this if I'm not even close.

Color for the drag car? yellow rails & fluorescent orange body panels  For them motor can, sky blue.   Mark, in 1968 painted a new Cox Ferrari F1 fluorescent pink so it would be easier to find on the floor or underneath the track. That car handled ugly!

You ever make dandelion wine?  I got some from a NJ relative years ago & I thought it tasted gross!

40T/26 on a 36D arm ought to be quite the smoker, if it ran at all. Have you wound drag arms before? Does the Syracuse raceway also have a drag strip?

You prob don't want to hot a motor otherwise you wheel probably need wheelie bars & you will find it difficult to get a good run.

I have a couple of hot 36d drag cars one that had run .768 & I have to spend lot of time gooing it because it has so much torque it just wants to spin even geared 2.5 to 1.

How about fluorescent pink for the motor Colour ? Attached is the look im going for. It's been a while since I went back to the 60's magazines. Surprised no one corrected me as to it being a " sling shot". Well I was hoping no one asked me that question about making wine out of weeds. I have not now, nor will I ever used lawn waste for wine, but thank you for asking.😝 wine Gooood Fire Baaaaad.

Look at the round mabuchi 380 motors there are some of them that have real nice mags apparently stronger than arcos the armature shaft I believe is the same as 36d so you may be able to use that comm too.

Also prof motor has 6 36d blanks with Kirkwood comms a available.

A Hemi !! If you need headers, you can use brass or aluminum tubing, a solid solder of the proper dia,. or even plastic rod or tubing ,such as Evergreen. Mark , can you post a photo of the bare drag chassis, to show us how you constructed it?

Yes, you have the final say when it comes to colors. You asked in an earlier post for color suggestions, my specified colors were just suggestions than would make the car stand out, nothing more.

Make your wine out of whatever, I don't drink the stuff anymore. City people don't realize that dandelions are more than just a weed in your lawn. I grew up in the country & boiled dandelions made great tasting greens with a little salt, pepper, butter, & vinegar added. The trick was to get them before the blossoms went to seed, or expect them to be bitter. I bet you didn't know there is a company that grows cultivated dandelions so they could be canned & shipped all over the world. That company is the State of Maine Brand, not associated with any government. Occasionally, you'll see their red, white, & blue striped railroad cars in a train. They ship other canned vegetables too.
