Stock Cars on the Royal – 10/5/21
MVH retro-racing moved back to Tuesday evenings this week, running Stock Cars on the Royal. Seven racers were in attendance to run in the 4/4 format with four drivers on, marshals at the deadman and the wiggles, and one person to run the computer.
Stock Cars in Tech:
John Weaver jumped out to an early lead with Ray Lee running in 2nd and trailing by 5 laps at the change to the inside lanes. Bob “Woody” Hazelwood and Dave Panich were running just 2 laps apart but trailing Ray by 5 while Rob Hayes was another five laps back. In the closest race of the first half, Dan Savage was leading Richard Payne by 1 lap.
Things stayed pretty much the same in the second half of the race as Ray couldn’t close the gap to Weaver, Woody dropped off the pace, allowing Dave to take the bottom podium position, while Richard closed the gap to Dan to just 13 track sections (about half a lap) but couldn’t get past him.
Fast lap honors went to John Weaver who posted a 3.952 lap on blue. Meanwhile, yellow was the fast way around on this particular Tuesday, as five of the seven drivers posted their best laps on yellow.
