The beauty of IRRA® is standardized rules. I'm prepping my cars to race them once again, for the SERRA "re-boot" series. My inside source tells me SERRA still uses IRRA® rules without variations.

The goal is to make my cars legal if and when I visit the "Cumberland Paradise". Hopefully soon. I have no expectations of winning, I just want to race, make new friends, and have fun.

Starting with my F1. Tony P chassis needs a new motor and wheels. Body is a Parma #1049B BRM, still legal on the approved body list. Needs fresh front tires, CR 020 Wonder WXXX  :)

And I think I need to order a few CR "Stage 2" motors?

Nice car! Standard rules is a great idea. I have plenty of cars that are obsolete due to rule changes.

Pablo:

Are you going to be able to make the upcoming SERRA race in Thomasville?  The tracks are in great shape.

Thanks for asking, Jay. No, I'm busy buying a house. I'm hoping for the next one in Cleveland, TN

What teeth pinions do I need for CR Stage 2 motors, please?

I used a 12 tooth pinion on my Stockcar on the King track and an 11 tooth pinion on my Can-am on the Engleman. Used a 28 tooth crown on both.  The 12 tooth pinion really heated up the CR102 motor on my Stockcar but it stayed fast and the brakes held up great the whole race.

Great, thanks. I haven't run these cars in years, and just want to drive well. How about I just go conservative on all 3 cars, F1, Can Am, and Stock Car and put 11's on all?

For a smaller and/or tighter track a 10 tooth pinion might work even better, as always test test test.

I would recommend getting an M7 body for it.

CR-102 motors like big pinions so I had to hog out the bracket a little. Hate taking a Dremel to a Tony P Evil Bucks chassis, but it had to be done  :shok:

CR-102 motor, Red Fox crown, ARP angled pinion, etc. ready to go

Motor and gears buttoned up; she passes the drivetrain test fine

Front wheels done, clearance checked, I'll bottle them up in the refrigerator. That's all for now, I'll do final details at the track

My Can Am will be a Pablo-built loaner from owner Rotorranch. Never been run. Soon as it arrives it gets a new CR 102 motor  :dance3:

Now, where did I put my doggone Stock Car?  :shok:  :laugh2:

Rotor's Can Am needs the bracket modified for a bigger (11T) pinion. Unibit will do the trick. May need to carve some meat off the bottom brace for crown clearance as well. Piece of cake.

IMG_0785.JPG

Motor installed, amp draw test to verify nothing got tweaked by the screws being torqued by my meaty hands. Good to go. Amazingly, the amp draw on final drivetrain test with axle gears wheels is almost exactly the same as with no load. That's a powerful motor, son    :bb:

Waiting for Rotor to tell me what color to paint the body

Parma TI22, Tamiya rattle can lacquers, Metallic Blue backed with white. The white is hard as nails, very impressive. NATO black details sprayed on outside

And the car is done, except the interior which Rotor will install himself. Now the car goes back to him, updated and ready to rock

My IRRA stocker chassis isn't the latest/greatest design but it's been updated to a CR 102 motor, 11T pinion, Red Fox 28T crown, and Swiss weighted flag. Body is a Red Fox Charger and interior will be a Noose
