I met Sano Dave at the Midwest slot car show but never in a race setting. We lost him soon after. Eventually this body surfaced on eBay, where I acquired this Noose gem. The body was set aside while I tried to decide what kind of chassis should go under it. Inspired by the best chassis builders on this forum and elements of 1967 this is what I came up with. I know it's not up to the standards of the pinnacle builders so go easy on me...LOL. Thanks to those guys for sharing 'how to do it' tutorials. I'd like to know the origin of the body and know that it is not a vintage one. I would hope Sano would approve.

Al,
Great looking car. I'm sure Dave would be thrilled with your build and tribute.
Looking at your name, and you are from the Chicago area, would you be related to Dennis DeYoung of Styx fame?

And a Champion 507. Very cool.
Sano Dave would definitely approve.

Looking great Al, lots of love put into this build. Some nice details.
Where did those wheel inserts come from and what was your method to get those nice big bends in the brass frame tubes?

Dave built a few jaildoor cars while I knew him. His work was always spectacular. The inserts Dave used he got from me that I cast in resin.

Thank you all.
I made a mold and cast the MPC Eagle kit rear wheels, then ground and sanded them down to fit the Russkit wheels. The radius on the bends were formed by hand over the handle of my Allen wrench. Real low-tech but effective.
No, I am not related to Dennis DeYoung. Did see him in concert a few times, though.
