I had no idea that a motor with a magnet chunked that badly could still run well enough to win a big race like that, especially twice.

It looks like it was an 8 or 10 mag, with the 4 top segments not very tall.
So it wasn't like a 4 mag, where 1/2 of the back would be out.
I had setups with substantial chips, and it didn't seem to affect performance one bit.
When we were first hand cutting cobalt mags for multi-mag setups, I know a lot of my set-ups weren't very precise, front to back.
When Stu started EDM cutting them, I didn't see those super-precise motors run any better than the ones I built, that had 2 different heights mags, front to back.
