I fairly am new to Slotblog, in fact this is my first post. This is my second scratchbuilt chassis, of my own design. It surprised me at how well it handled. I ended up selling it, because I think my next will be much better. It was extremely satisfying to build, and now I understand why scratchbuilders do what they do!

Thanks to all who inspired me!

Super-nice job.

I'm really impressed that that crown gear can handle that much horsepower.

I've put Mura G20 power into 48P crown gears on my inline wing cars, maybe even the JK 64P crowns, although I found the 64P crowns not as robust as 48P. With that power, it's very important to have the pinion and crown on the same centerline. I ran a Phoenix-powered inline briefly using generic Cox crowns, and that was no problem at all.

Kevin, nice job on the chassis build. Your workmanship is both neat and clean. I look forward to seeing some of your future builds on here, too.  :)

Great looking first build. You should also post it in the scratch-builders gallery. :)

I really don't have that much experience with crown gears or the Retro style motor configuration, but hopefully it will hold up with that motor. It was very fast on a Hillclimb track with banked corners, and because it had weight in front and was not a light chassis, it stayed in in tight corners pretty good considering. It was like a freight train!

Beautiful chassis and workmanship. First chassis but obviously you have soldering experience. Very close to current Retro chassis designs other than the front axle mounting. Keep on building!

Nice job with this build. And yes, much of the satisfaction especially in the SCRRA Retro class's is driving your own designs!!

It appears you're running at the Bakersfield Hillclimb track? It would be great to get Retro started there as well. Can-Am and F1 would be fun on that track. I'll be heading over there from Paso after the holidays to run some of their current classes.

Keep building – you've got a great start.

She's real fine, my 409!!!
