Viper track.

Unfortunately, my room is "L"-shaped, my track takes up a large part of one leg, and the room doesn't lend itself to a single photo. I've 2twoof the track to get the whole thing, and a shot of my workshop where the majority of my slot car projects take form.
Happy Holidays everyone!

Here's my 88' reverse "Orange Crush" track and pits. Track was refurbed by Donn Bryans in 2018.
Plus the updated main work area. Just trying to channel my inner Rick Thigpen but nope, not there yet!

Jay Guard, is that a full size King?

Sorry, guys, but this is actually my "pleasure room."
Magnepan speakers, Ariston turntable, Mark Levinson preamp, Marantz CD player, Lectron tube amplifier (on ground.)
Most of the thousands of CDs are stored in another room.

Rick, did you ever talk hi-fi with the owner of Starlight Speedway in Ft. Worth, TX, Mark Lowrey? He was/is big into it as well. Had a vinyl record shop inside the track and supposedly a huge collection at his home.

No, haven't heard from him. Always glad to talk with anyone who appreciates great music beautifully reproduced.

Rick, I'm a huge fan of "Maggies" as well (currently 1.7i's). Your vinyl collection is impressive!

I haven't seen him since the '80s. I bought plenty of Aero Racing stuff at his track, and for some dumb reason thought you guys must know each other.
I've had some nice hi-fi gear on and off over the years, although good gear is a waste on me because my I've always had poor hearing. I just like the way it looks.

Jay - I thought I remembered esses in the back straight on this track or is just my failing memory?

I had MG IIBs with a Halfler power amp and PS Audio preamp with a Thorens turntable and magnetic cartridge. Magnepan, best ever!

Mark:
Not a King at all, it's most similar to a "reversed" American "Orange" track from back in the day. Plus it's only 88' long as opposed to 155' and obviously only four lanes instead of eight. It does have an 28' foot long straight and a full=punch bank though, great for motor testing and just an easy, fun to run on track.
Don:
No, there have never been any esses on this track. However I am seriously thinking of making a new section of track with esses that I can install/remove after the donut as the type of race dictates. With the new esses it would be pretty similar to an original American Orange, just "crushed" a bit, hence the name, "Orange Crush".

My old Hillclimb back in '08.
Looks a lot like Marcus Ramos's track at P1 Raceway in Winter Garden, FL. They have a healthy racing program on it if you're ever in the area.

Cool yeah that was our old Ogilvie hillclimb.
It was in a few San Diego hobby shops before I had it in my garage for a couple years.
Fun track to race on, thanks for the info.

In the 1970's, this was my pleasure room;
The locomotive shed at the National Railroad Museum. The same shed today;
Other than a new coat of paint, the "Big Boy" remains just as we left it 50 years ago. The lagging on the boiler has still not been replaced.
I had somewhat of an amature recording studio in the basement, until it was flooded out. Teac four track reel-to-reel, Teac 8 channel board, Crown amps, EV monitors. Worked really well, did a lot of demo tapes for local garage bands, as well as trying new tunes myself.
Now the kitchen table is my pleasure zone. I build my slot cars there.

I hadn't thought of this in years. Your post jogged my memory.
In the late 70's to mid 80's I had a Tascam 8 track reel to reel home studio in my den. I had quite a bit of outboard gear, modtly run of the mill, but I did have an Eventide echo and 3 Urei compressor/limiters. A few cool mics. I was guitar player but I loved synths, even though I sucked at keys. I had several over the years, The last one was Oberheim Matrix12.
I recorded a few bands but my hearing's never been very good, so I wasn't very good at it. I mainly used it to jam by myself with a drum machine, keys and a mic. Good times! A divorce put an end to that.
