I have been using the Ralph Thorne. And am happy with it. It is so cheap to purchase. I don't want to mess with anything else.

Agree. Marvel Mystery Oil. As my high school chemistry teacher said, "it's a mystery what's in it!".

I heard it's automatic transmission fluid. But I agree with buying it at your local track. It's not that expensive.

Even WD40 will work.

I'm still using my supply of Parma that I've had for years.

Voodoo is great stuff.  I've been using it for years.

Back in the day we used to mix up some Marvel Mystery Oil and diesel fuel.  Worked good.  It is very similar to Big Jims Juice, if anybody remembers that.

When I started Front Line Products back in the 80's I bought a non-synthetic EDM/ cutting fluid and Trans fluid mix called Super Juice that worked great.

Mix was about 80/20.

I know several companies sold synthetic EDM fluids.... The problem is finding small amounts to make it yourself but maybe you could buy from a EDM shop?

Not sure if its still made. It was a Mobil oil product that a friend that worked for Mobil got for me. It was called Vacmul 03D. I bought it in 5 gal pails.

all great and useful products. i like a blend of kerosene, marvel and acetone. in VERY small drops, works great as a comm lube. another version using kerosene, transynd and lanolin makes a durable, highly viscous lube. best regards

If you want to clean the glue, dirt, and gunk off of braids, then ATF and a wire brush will do the trick nicely.

If you are looking to improve the contact between a clean braid and track braid - then ATF is a "not so much" solution.

I have a home mix, but the originator couldn't remember 1/3 of the ingredients, and gave me a substitute ingredient which didn't work so well....

Someone had recommended "railzip" and it works nicely, it's a little thicker. Marvel's works. Naphtha works good to clean the braids......

I bet if we took all the answers, and threw them in a bottle, we'd have something that would work great.

I have been using MMO for years.

Whatever you use use it sparingly. Any excess goes into the track braid and works on the glue holding it down. I know all or most all of you know that.

Voodoo drops with a splash of Parma braid juice if you can find it, keeps braids very clean.

I have a great formula that I have been testing and people have encouraged me to sell it.

Problem is that it would need to be priced far above what is currently being sold and that would likely be a break even with no profit.

That's thirty minutes away. I'll be there in ten.

I had a very good racer tell me he did not use braid juice. He started a race on new braid and if he needed to about half way through he flipped it over and ran the other side.

Probably not a bad approach as long as you start off with braid that is usable on both sides.

I've used WD-40 out of a cleaned out "glue" bottle as braid juice for years with great success.  Between heats I add one small drop and wipe it off with a piece of paper towel.  It's amazing how much dirt I get on the towel after a race.  In addition my braid often looks brand new after a race.  Only one thing to be aware of, when the next heat starts you will have very little brakes going into the next turn.  Conversely it will give you a great jump at the start of the race but again, watch out for that first turn.  Another thing is it doesn't leave any oily residue for the next racers car to run into and coat his tires.  Just my opinion but I think it should be illegal to put anything on your braid that leave a puddle on the track.

Very interesting video. It seemed to me the inside lane car was starting to slow down. How long does it last and does it do the same thing if applied to your braids?

I think it only appears the inside lane slowed down, because the outside lane sped up more. Why that is will depend on a number of things that I'm sure most of you could guess at, not the least being the motor happened to have a higher RPM at that voltage and/or lower magnetic drag.

As for your questions, I've been using the stuff for over 10 years. I rarely clean my track at all, and I rarely re-apply INOX to the rails. I can go to my track, which sits dormant for weeks at a time, and run on it without any prior cleaning, as if I'd just run the track the day before.

If/when any car acts like it needs help, and AFTER I've already made sure the braid is properly formed for the track I'm racing on, then I will apply a single drop to each braid and the problem usually goes away. If not, then the problem was not related to braid contact, but some other issue.

It does not dry out or gum up. The rails should be wiped after application to remove any liquid excess, which leaves a fine layer on the rails that does the work.

It does not affect tires or traction in any way, and I run a variety of urethane and rubber tires, including NSR type and foam rubber from ScaleAuto. I don't run silicone, though.

Whether you try it or not is up to you, but of those who try it, 99.9% of them stick with it. The remaining 0.1% were already using something else that worked well and the benefit was not so noticeable.

I see that this is news to some people on this forum, but it's not new. Recent? Sure... if 10 years old is recent. Those who've had their own solutions for the last 30 years will be understandably hesitant to believe such claims. Your reactions are similar to what happened on other forums 10 years ago. Model Railroaders are also now discovering this product with similar reactions of disbelief until they've tried it. There are more videos to be found on YouTube, if you want more evidence.

You can find it at 132slotcar.us as well as many other slot car shops for a reason.

I stopped using braid juice years ago. No speed difference with or without. With gets braid dirty easier where without braid stays clean.

You all are wasting your time and are a causing braid problems with your raceway by using this nonsense.
