After racing my Bob Cozine copy the drop arm broke off and and I knew I couldn't make another drop arm like it so I decided to tear it apart and build a new one. I tore off the motor bracket, wheels/tires and motor.

I based this one mostly off of the Mike Steube car in the 1st MCS LA Championship Race. I liked the cool half-rails and wanted to build a car that had tilting pans so this worked perfectly.

I left the motor exactly the same except for that I added a NOS Thorp sticker to it. The old gray tires will be replaced with modern blacks soon.

For the chassis I used 3 full rails with 2 half-rails. I didn't have a good sheet of brass to make a drop arm to so I had to steal one off of a trash chassis I had. Still worked out well though.

Body will be a Chaparral 2F, noticed a few of those in the race reports.

I think that's it. Now here's some pictures-

Aaaa...    Steube's Lola T70.  Back in the daty when slot cars resembled real race cars.  Nostalgia...

That was a sweet spot in slot racing. Before it got more complicated with angle winders.

Issac, you did a nice representation of that period of car.  Your motor box looks strong too. love to see more builds :good:

I do like the double wire on Steube's car.

Nice job completing the build Isaac. I'd suggest you engrave your name on chassis builds, so in 10 yrs. we'll know who built what. :)  A sometimes available source for thicker brass sheet are door kicker plates at home centers or door & window shops. You might even find one with a defect that was marked down. These plates may show up on eBay too.

Thanks guys.

Bill, thanks for the suggestion, I will make sure to check that out.

Martin, I set it up with a 3/4 GL. This was pretty traditional for the era. It also fit the body well.

You say you are going to use the Chaparral 2H (1969) body, is that correct?. This is the 2H. Dynamic and Lancer made a version, which do you have?

When I first read your post I was thinking of the slammed Dynamic 2F. One of my favorites.

Thanks Rick, the Rick's jig definitely helped.  :)

Martin, your right. It's a Red Fox 2F, I just read it wrong. Just changed.

Great choice, I thought that's what you meant. :)

I believe the Red Fox is a copy of the Dynamic body.

Finally finished! Got the body mounted, which was a real pain. It really didn't want to work. Building a chassis without a body is not a great idea but I got there eventually.

The body is a Truescale Lola T70 which is a copy of the Dynamic version that was so popular. Noose did a great job and the color is really pretty. The interior also caused some issues and against my better judgement I used Rick's tip of heating up a 16D with a soldering iron and it worked really great. I was so scared of ruining a Noose painted original Dynamic interior (I didn't like the Truescale version so I sent him a real one). Also cut some rears on the Hudy, Alpha rubber works real good on the modern tracks. Ok, here's some pics.

I'm with Alchemist, I just got a body perfect for a chassis like this. Run it! You've been good at posting details on track/lane & lap times!
From the photos, it looks like you went with narrower pans & a longer g lead or, is it just a shorter drop arm ?
Either way it's, you know what I'm gonna say.......

Your car came out beautifully. I had forgotten about this chassis, but I see I posted about it back in Dec. :laugh2:  I was seeing this Thorp  T-70 body in a couple of Noose's posts & wondered whose it was. Now I know. The body is very much in character with the chassis & motor. :)
