Stock Cars on the Royal – 12/21/21
On tap this week in MVH’s Tuesday night retro series was Stock Cars on the Royal. Seven racers were in attendance to run in the 4/4 format with four drivers on and marshals at the deadman, the donut and the wiggles.
Stock Car Field on the Starting Line:
The race for the win looked like it would be between four drivers with Dave Panich, Bob “Woody” Hazelwood, Rob Hayes and Peter Lentros setting the early pace. By the change to the inside lanes, Dave was running two laps ahead of Woody who was two laps up on Rob who was two laps in front of Peter. Paul Ryer was six laps behind Pete but thirteen laps up on Richard Payne. Richard was in a two-car race with Tom Smith who trailed by three laps.
The second half of the race saw the race between Pete and Rob tighten. When time ran out, Dave had stretched his lead over Woody to six laps to take the win while Pete managed to slip past Rob to take the third podium position by one lap. The remainder of the field finished in the order they were running at the midpoint of the race.
Dave posted the fast lap of the evening with a 4.164 on blue, which was clearly the fast lane tonight as all but one racer scored their fastest lap on it.
