Wow it's time a flexi one is considered vintage.

Fellas,

The decision to include Flexis as vintage is a multiangled approach to:

#1 Get more folks involved in the "Vintage Aspect" of the hobby.

#2 Make it more affordable to do so.

#3 Make it possible to race a "vintage slot car" class/group without running the risk of destroying valuable cars.

#4 There are lots of vintage Flexi cars out there just "parked" due to obsolescence just waiting for a second chance !

There's lots of Flexi-1's out there that'll lend themselves well to this notion, and quite possibly lead to a VINTAGE PARMA slot car club /group. Vintage "NON ELECTRONIC CONTROLLERS", running vintage Flexis, being raced by vintage racers...sort of a PARMA NOSTALGIA GROUP...collectors, restorers, racers...

I still run one with a white endbell over/under parma 16d..... it has a more modern JK ford gt-40 body on it, though.  Are you going to require the old parma ASA camaro and Corvette GTP bodies they originally came with?

This could also work with Gp12 BrassKars

my original Flexi that I bought about 35 years ago has an old Parma Ferrari F40 body that's at least 30 years old and a Parma 16d that runs great an about the same age, so I guess I'd be legal to go!

Been planning a proxy series for a couple years now. Will have a schedule next month. You are not alone.

Paul,

What I might suggest is that you folks set up your own body guidelines depending on what's available in your immediate area/track and go from there. As far as your suggestion on the Brass Kars I'm in agreement, while we're at it how about the 4 1/2" Flexi 2 and or the International 32 cars by Parma

! have a 4.5" Flexi 2 I ran 20-25 yrs. ago & two more new ones I never used. I probably have 4" Flexi 2s also. I used to build them for my children when they were kids. I have plenty of parts, but the closest track is hours away.

My two cents -- pick a chassis, or a limited few, and stick to it.  We tried doing this at Trains and Lanes with the same theory -- lots of old cars out there.  It quickly moved to Turbos to Flexi 5's and then Cheetahs, and then some guys started to bitch about the 1/8" axles,  And since the Parma 16D is no longer manufactured, sooner or later you will need to go to something available, and then some guys will want to go faster, yada yada yada.  If it's put out front that this is good cheap fun you should be alright.  Oh, and ban the TI22 -- I alwas thought this class would be fun with retro coupe bodies like Lolas, Chevrons, Ferraris, Ford GT's, etc.

Chris,

We're not a racing group, we are a slot car collector, restorer group. We don't race our vintage cars for several reasons. I believe a group of Flexi 1 cars would enable some more track time at a reasonable increase in speed over the old cars and a good measure of reliability as well as a sturdier car with less possibility of being ruined.

There are numerous classes that run at our track on a weekly basis, also three major series that have several classes in each of them that also frequent the raceway. There are enough classes for guys to "go fast" if they wish...seems to me that most racers aren't interested in the vintage stuff.
