Thought I would post this as a further thought on the "EZ" race post.
This year at Trains & Lanes (Easton, PA) we are running a fun series that follows the prototype.
Three classes:
GTD - C21 chassis / Retro Eagle / JK GT bodies / spec gears
LMP2 - JK C25 / Eagle / Mazda Dyson
DPI - open chassis / Phoenix / RTR Orca.
Each racer can race at his/her preferred level. And here's the fun: using qualifying times, with just enough racers for two mains, some of the LMPs race with the GTs, and some of the LMPs race with the DPIs, just like the 1:1 cars. We had a nine-race w/ith three drops fall series, and we're into another nine-race winter series.
Lots of close racing. Already three new racers have joined us. We originally envisioned GTD being a spec entry class, but a few veteran racers like me think slower racing is more fun.
