What are Piranha's four weekends?
Wing, first weekend
Retro, second and fourth?
Irl and prod24, third?

I'm not on Facebook Tom, but search under Piranha Speedway and Hobbies and the announcement appears there.

Sorry to say Tom but can't make it.  Dealing with some health issues but enjoy the weekend.  Always a good time.  A big vacuum not seeing Cukras there.  Maybe the powers that be can rename it to the John Cukras Checkpoint Cup?

Completely understand Tim. Take care of yourselves first. Not sure what my plan is for the race yet.

Jim, I think F-1 starts 1 hour after Coupes.

Yes,  the Checkpoint will be exactly the same as it has always been with no changes to the race schedule.  Retro Coupe will begin the weekend on the Flat track followed by F1 Flat track about an hour after the completion of the Coupe race. Retro Pro will end the day on the King track.

Saturday will bring Can Am on the King track and Sunday will be F1 also on the King track.

The SCRRA will make a formal Checkpoint Cup announcement shortly...

Any chance of getting a JK Box Stock Program going in SoCal? with the two tracks there it might be a lot of fun. Go ahead and delete this post if it's offensive to the party that tends to delete my posts.

I'm sure it could happen if enough racers want to do it, and someone does the dirty work to make it happen,,,,,,,,,, :D

We are looking into starting a GrpF program again with the New USRA Motor PS 4002USRAFK

The problem with running a true Box stock series is no tinkering with the car the racers we have in SoCal don't wish to run anything stock

and even the new racers we have pick up with the opening have jumped on board with LMP and OMB racing

The USRA motor has an American made arm and the test motor with old school chassis 4.3 long and 2000+ laps does high 2.5's at Piranha.  At Speedzone in LMP the test motor in that car ran 4.1 flat on the 220' Engleman it only has 1500+ laps on it.

This will be a sealed motor and the handout for LMP and GrpF and the Nat's starting this year

Hopefully the group f class is an entry level class for entry/ amateur level racers only. I realize it is fun to race as many classes as possible but their needs to be a class where the upper tier racers do not race. It may bring in more racers and it may not but I feel it is worth a try.

Yes I agree if you play with anything over a 12 then you should not race them but at the start we may let everyone race

to build the class the if you win  twice then no more move on

As a USRA class Roy and Myself can't race anymore because we Won once and anybody that racers Big Dog opens can't race

I have almost raced every type of racing that has been offered in the area. And promoted a few events.
I think that everyone that has hookup to the panel has a desire to win, at least there is the possibility, lol.
To have a racing format/structure that promotes that possiblity is healthy for the sport and good for participation, value to the raceway, etc

It was similar when I won spec 15 in 2005, I was able to defend in 2006 and then I was no longer allowed to race in it. I agree that maybe let everyone race in it, and if you win twice you no longer get to race in the class any longer. I think it will help bring other people into the hobby or even bring some of the drag/scale racers over. I remember when $100 car class was introduced there were like 5 or so drag racers who bought cars and raced.

Mike

I am more talking about keeping guys like myself and others out of the class. There are people at the track who do not consider themselves to be good because they are modest but in reality they are really good. Trying to figure out a way to help bring people into the hobby or even cross over from drag/scale/HO to wing racing.

I’m thinking it might be too big of jump for new racers to jump from the F class to OMB. They would have to be a very dedicated new racer which seems to be rare. Maybe there is another way to allow them to build confidence / experience before moving up?

There are lots of ways to tell how you Won #1 the group you won against #2 laps you turned I going to say with the USRA motor and a clean race the lap totals at Piranha will be in the 550+ range

so if you won with 480 and 490 would you be told you had to move up I think not it will all be played by ear if we were to get a large group of newer racers we would definitely separate the A and B racers as soon as a B class evolves 6-8 racers

An A racer would be anyone that races G12 and above and has podium This will be all about building the Wing Class

Jason,

I agree with the motor and concept with the program.

There has been a few new racers in the last year in which I am having to chase.

I really hope it works out and will help in anyway I can
