So I picked up a bunch of T-Jets cheap the other day and came across this one had a hole drilled in the body and chassis sides. Asked around and got this info. Has anyone heard of LaGanke from back in the day?

LaGanke was a slot car parts and modification company in the mid-60's. As far as I know info is hard to come by. I thought they made mostly 1/24 parts but it is very possible that they did make a few modified T-Jets. Are there any other things that are different? Armature wound differently, different gears, etc.

The only hesitancy I have with saying this a Laganke is that the hole looks like it was drilled by someone who didn't care about what it looked like. If venting is the only differance than I would say no, in the "hop up hints" it even talks about putting holes in the side for cooling.

Offhand, LaGanke (Tim La Ganke of Cleveland, IIRC...) started offering accessories in 1966, maybe a bit earlier, mostly for 1/32 and 1/24. The best known were their rewinding machine, and a $7 motor magnetizer! By '67 they were offering a T-Jet replacement armature, and added more HO accessories in the following months. I think they were the first to offer a brass pan for the T-Jet chassis...

Found a cutaway drawing of LaGanke's Stage 2 T-Jet chassis in the April '69 issue of Model Car Science (it's white on black, so not sure how well it will scan). It was $10 for a ready-to-run chassis, with Tiger armature, hard copper Tiger brushes, Tiger magnets and shims, Tiger Paw wheels and silver-plated tiger tail pickups... (just looked at the '69 Auto World catalog, and they were offering pretty much the same range of parts). The chassis is pictured with the side cut out for cooling... Maybe the holes on the sides were just a start.

They were also planning a Stage III version for $12, with the brass pan and other mods... don't know if they ever completed that one.
