All 1/24 controllers will now come with 162 ohm networks versus the original 148 ohm networks. This slightly slower response should give racers slightly more adjustment on the slow side of the sensitivity rheostat for today's motors.

so that's not a value (162) that's currently in your selection. Will you be adding that as a network module for sale separately?

Well, good question. Since I seem to have gotten inquires already for it I guess so. Racers who already have a 180 ohm network that gives them enough adjustment up or down on the sensitivity knob will not really benefit from going to the 162 ohm.
This change WAS NOT done to drive more sales of networks and make racers with 148 ohm networks think they needed this network. It was done for racers buying a new controller that was better set up for today's motors. I will probably sell fewer 180 ohm networks but my controller product will be improved and that is fine with me.

Kind of on the subject Jim, I have an older DD271 controller that has the board hanging off the side of the heat-sink and a newer DD281 with the square heat-sink. The 271 has a noticeably slower response than the newer 281 with the same resistor pack. Both work beautifully just requiring different adjustments and or resistor packs. Is this difference in the two models common or just the way my two controllers are?

The older DD271 with the green circuit boards do have a slightly slower response than the Genesis 2 models. This is partly because the new model has 2 transistors in parallel versus the old 1 silver transistor. There is also a tolerance of plus or minus 10% on transistors so your older transistor might be towards the "slow" end and the new DD281 may have 2 transistors on the "fast" end of power output.
The sensitivity knob is there to compensate for these small differences.

$18.50, same as my other standard networks. The part number is DD286.
