I don't know why Phil is stirring up a tempest in our little teapot but I certainly see no indication that track owners anywhere are actively "banning" anyone that behaves and wants to spend money.

I look forward to brushless stuff coming into our market and I hope that it will reduce the expense of racing really fast slot cars.

Back when faster motors were less expensive there was a natural progression toward using them instead of becoming mired in a class that tried to restrict expense by limiting the motor.

The "Peter Principle" should apply to everything but your wallet.

I have never heard talk of Brushless Motors at any of the races.  I have attended in the past 2 years.  I have raced at most of the Major Retro races on the East Coast.  Plus race regionally in the Ohio, Pa area.   Our Local track, I doubt any racer other than myself has knowledge about brushless motors.   And I will not dive into that world until the technology has evolved.  And no our Track Owner has not banned them.   But how can something be banned that a vast majority of racers know nothing about.

Retro was either going to be expensive by using umpteen underpowered motors or by destroying really pretty jewelry that couldn't handle real horsepower.

Since it was criminally painful to destroy the collectible chassis, we're stuck with the slow motors.  :D

I already mentioned I tested a car for a friend.

It was a Retro F1 car with an "inrunner" motor and a Talon ESC, modified as per a posted video.

It ran, but I would characterize it as a "work in progress", maybe because of using the inrunner.

Ok, that makes four guys in the US that have played/tested with brushless at a track.

That's my point! Track owners are not discouraging brushless. Track owners are not the reason brussless hasn't taken off.

LOL! You keep talking about racing. When brushless develops there will be racing. As of now, if you got everyone in the US with a brussless car together at one track, you wouldn't have enough racers to run crash and burn. Jesus, talk about putting the cart before the horse! LOL!

I should add that I want brussless to succeed as much as anyone. I'm just don't agree with the reasons that were given that it's not. I personally think it's because it's a bit complicated, and most people aren't interested enough to bother with it.

There are 4 ESC’s being tested at the moment Talon MackyB Stephano and some BLheil stuff.

Whats going to happen when they all become available to race? Will there be classes for each different ESC because some of them are programmable?

I race in NC. So far there are two of us racing brushless drag slot cars. Motors dont get hot and times are very consistent. We use Talon 25. Only problem is the lag and how to time it with the tree. Settings are 10/100/10. On waiting list for escs from UK and Italy.

That's great, Lee! There's no one currently doing as much as you in brushless drags.

I worry that there won't be enough ESC's to go around when they finally become available.  The interest in brushless has become greater than they could have foreseen.

I race brushless motors in RC now.  They are NOT more consistent in performance than a brushed motor.  Trying different rotors-- playing with ESC's--still lot's of variables.  Slot racing will ONLY get cheaper when you have MORE horsepower than the car can handle.  THEN it becomes a driver's game and motors are no longer the key to the equation.

Brushless will be great when it's sorted out. But it's NOT something that is SO much better.  It's just different.  Enjoy both--slot racing is dying-- keep racing what ever you can as long as you can!

The Brushless Drag Slot Car Racing Facebook group membership has steadily grown to its current 265 members. Which is a good thing. But sadly there is no one posting. Very, very rarely will someone post. So there is nothing for the new members to see. It's completely dead. Yet people keep joining. Puzzling.

How many of the 265 members do you think have an ESC for their slot cars?

Some do. There was a period where there was some posting going on. But I think the lag was a problem. That's a much bigger deal in drag racing.

There is “ lag “ in every drag slot car. No motor will move the car instantly when the trigger is pulled!

I don’t know why you keep saying that Brushless powered cars have all these problems when you have no experience with them.

Maybe if you get rid of the WARNING at the top of your Facebook page it might get people to chime in a bit more about their brushless drag cars.

I have a few and have no problems with them pass after pass.

I am in the process of making this Opel brushless…..

There is “ lag “ in every drag slot car.

And way, way, way more lag in a brushless setup.

But hey, you've got a lot of cars. That means...well what exactly does it mean?

Didn’t you start the page to promote Brushless Drag racing?

But you continue to bash yourself and the page instead of using it in an informative way.

I would think your postings should be positive not negative.

This is not a argument I want to have, since we've argued about it many times before.

The Talon 25 has zero lag. Everyone should buy a car from you. :good:

I have only sold 2 rtr cars since I started with Brushless Technology. Both to the same person.

Im not building and selling cars like you assume I am.

BTW if you can’t help the members on your Facebook page you can give them my email ( brushlessslotcar@gmail.com )

Ill be more than happy to answer questions and provide advice on my experiences with Brushless Technology in drag cars.  :sun_bespectacled:

Sorry this has been brought up here. I would prefer it hadn't been. To explain to everyone what this is about, Tom has a guy post his cars on my Facebook group. I have a problem with this as explained below.

As far as emails go, you have suggested the same thing to me in PMs long before now. In the past, I'd have a question on the Facebook group I can't answer, so I would PM you. You don't give me any info. You want me to have them email you, not to help them, but to try and sell them a brushless setup or complete car. It's not hard to figure out what your true intentions are.

You have never been helpful with brushless. I've ask you countless times for info and you never give it to me. "It depends on a lot of things. Just have them email me." When I was trying, unsuccessfully, to create a beginner's guide, you were zero help.

You're not a member of my group. I don't want  you trying to sell cars on my group.

Mr Smith as a point of clarity I pm’d you to address the fact that you were spreading misinformation.

I am not selling brushless drag cars on your Facebook group or anywhere else.

It looks like a fellow brushless slot car enthusiast found the YouTube channel and was nice enough to share it with your group.

Im not a Facebook member so I can’t join your group.

I have spent 100’s of hours building, testing and tuning brushless drag cars, so my intention is to help everyone and anyone with the brushless technology that Martin created. I will continue to do so at the beast of my ability as long as I can.

Please share the pm’s so everyone can see our exchanges, I don’t mind.

Please share with everyone the countless hours you spent building, testing and tuning brushless cars pictures, videos and experience.

Jeremy Moyer has made 3 or 4 post total. One was defending the Talon 25 lag. The others were posts of your car videos. That's it. You can't tell he's not connected to you in some way or another.

But none of this matters. You just can't have your cars on my group. I don't why it even matters to you.
