In the first picture on the left I am pretty sure that is Steve Brown, I think he won Semi-Pro at these Nats.
Cheers

Top photo, second from left is Jim Stevens of Camen. Jim would place 4th in Pro Group 7 two years later at the 1981 USRA Nats in Milwaukee, WI.
Middle photo, left is indeed John Strachan of Camen. John placed second to Joel Montague at the inaugural Worlds race the year before in Gothenburg, Sweden, and again in 1982 in Uden, Holland. John also placed third at the 1986 USRA Nats in Detroit, MI. All Pro Group 7.
In my never-ending quest to document the National race, if ANYONE has verifiable lap totals for the pro G7 main (printed results, race report, etc.) please contact me. I have all the names, but only the lap total for the winner, Steve Bogut.

They were both part of Team Trinity. I don't think it took much effort on Tony or Ernie to come up with a nick name for most of us.
Jim may Rember how Kenny was tag Little Time. Big Time was a was a trip
Jim was Bill Taylor living in California at that point Ray Kallio stay at his place during the 77 Nats at Buena Park

I'm almost certain the guy on the red lane in the first picture is Jimmy Joye. Team Trinity racer from Alabama. He painted and winged RTR bodies for Ernie. He went to this race with Wally Flemming from Nashville Tenn.
Steve Brown? I have a Camen tire tool that I got from Jimmy sometime in the early 80's that is engraved "Team Brrrown!" I posted a picture of it here some years ago and was told it probably belonged to Steve Brown.
Does anyone remember Jimmy?

Larry, I was team Trinity but I hung out mostly with the Elmsford crew of Kallio, etc when staying at races. Short and stumpy seems like a reasonable explanation to me for the nickname, right Larry "badass" Labounty"?

Larry
how would you know that about ray staying with me?
I did race at C&C many times, but I was working hard to be worthy of being called an amateur. I did not think you guys would even know who I was,
did you know Bob Emott also was with me for a few days?
were you part of the Hi-Pro group? I have a couple of set ups and armatures that I inherited from Rick elting.

Bill I did the 77 nats .I may had stay at your place for a couple days after the mains. I Rember Bob Emmott was there as he started a new mag called 24 Scale model racing news .(still have July - August 77 issue)
Ray gave me a ride to Lax. Pretty sure we left from your place. I think Ray drove out to LA in a Triumph. Do remember Bob going out to dinner with the Camen crew after the race.. I was racing for Hi-Pro ,Was my 1st race as a Pro .
