Someone with his own forum should have the ability to lock his own thread.

IOW,if he wants it to be an uninterrupted build thread, free of drift or unwanted advice, he would post and lock.

He could open it up at the conclusion, to accept his compliments, if he wished.

In the past I don't think that was needed. But now, I think that's a great idea. No reason not to do it. :good:

If you want to see some Gator Bob craziness join this forum: https://dc-punk.freeforums.net

I just looked.

Wow 😉

I was a member for a while. Even use to talk to Bob on the phone and bought some slot car stuff from him.

But he would occasionally turn on me, start accusing me of stuff that I had no idea what he was talking about. We would get in epic arguments. Really bad ones. I'm not at all opposed to an argument (y'all may have noticed :D). But it's not all I want to do. It became almost a daily thing and I had to tap out. Bob won in the end. I quit going there and he eventually banned me.

It's a shame, because he can be an entertaining guy when he's in a good mood.

Bags opinion it was a build thread, What makes your opinion\ worth more then his. Is your truth worth more then his truth, Come to Faced book and I will really tell you I think of those who value their opinions above others.

I'm surprised you're so offended. I don't feel it's my opinion.

A build thread is what it is. Posting the step by step process of building a car from start to finish is a build thread.

I think the vast majority of members would agree with me. Or not! I shouldn't speak for everyone. Let me know if you disagree.

PS: Why did you quote a post I made about Gator Bob?

As someone who has a long running thread here the only thing I would like to see is the ability for a thread owner to edit his or her thread at any time. On slotblog, we have I think 24 hours to make changes? and then thats it. There are mistakes in my thread that I would like to correct, maybe I would like to shuffle things around, add an index, but I can't. That would also give me the ability to delete irrelavant posts, but I would not do that but I could. There is a lot of clutter that could be cleaned up.

Steve, that's a good valid point. I recommend you contact Cheater via PM and ask him. He can probably help you, or at least explain it in better detail than I.

Steve,
I always thought someone who has his own forum, or a special thread, has full editing and moderation rights.

I wonder if Cheater forgot to grant them.

Unless the issue was that it was just a thread in a general forum.

I think some post in every thread so their post count goes up.

It reminds me of the Gator Bob Era.

I always liked Gator Bob. I understand why he is gone, but when he is on, he is on! He has always stepped up when I needed something for a build. We did some trades where I felt I got the better deal and he would not let me correct the difference. While he was part of a lot of vintage stuff, proxy drags, etc., my most vivid memory is how passionate he was when the FCR national thing was trying to get started. his builds for that series to me were the best represented and what it was supposed to be about. He was all in and I felt bad when it collapsed as quickly as it started.

Roll the GIF clip!
