How heavy are resin bodies compared to plastic model bodies?

It depends on the manufacturer.  Basicly it comes down to thickness, as the two materials are similar in density.  (I think that resin might be a bit denser.)

There is significant variation in thickness in model bodies.  Some old AMT kits are pretty hefty compared to the nicer Japanese models from Fujimi and Tamiya.

I'm looking for either a 2022 Toyota Camry Nascar body or a 2022 Ford Mustang Nascar body.  It's for a hard body FCR chassis at my local track.  I've found a resin body but don't know if it's much heavier than a plastic model body.  Its pretty pricey to just buy to test and not work.  Wanted to know if anyone has tried a resin body for hard body on a FCR chassis?

Generally resin bodies are heavier. Those cast in one piece molds where the resin is spread on the inside with no real control of the thickness of the cross section are the worst. I have been casting bodies in two piece molds which keep thicknesses at least as thin as the styrene models. It uses a process I developed myself.

Salvino Models has 2022 Nascar Camaro and Mustang model kits.  Check Model Roundup under "coming soon."
