Digging in the vast reserves at the LASCM's vault, I pulled this car which appears to be a used, but genuine factory RTR model. Thing is, it is as often in early to mid-1968 as manufacturers were scrambling to save their hides, a mix of parts from sister companies: a pretty standard Testor chassis, but with a Pactra motor and wheels, and a Lola T70 body I had never seen before. It appears derived from an earlier Pactra model but now sports front diaplane and rear spoiler, reworked engine detail and the driver is molded in. The driver's head is standard Pactra. The spur gear is like on some Testor cars, a Wilson product. There is a black die-cut cardboard insert taped under the driver. The card and the body have Pactra decals on them.

The former owner painted the inside of the headlights silver, we hope to buff that out, and a few odd details.

So there is quite a mix here, but the holes in the body have been machine punched, so this is no amateur job.

One more to add to the "mystery" list, and hopefully someone has a body, or an identical car?

Would the headlights normally have been left clear for a production body?

A motor is only as fast as the chassis it's in.

From the Ben Jones Collection. Rear tires are not original.

Very nice.

Nice job, Rodney.

Ben's car is very similar except it appears to drive out of the opposite side.

Probably an owner mod.

Also, can't tell if Ben's chassis says Testors or not. Have seen them both ways.

They all have that distinctive Testors "looking down" drivers head mounting.

Ironic, isn't it, it's sporting both Ford and Ferrari logos. And yet, it's a Lola, builder of the GT40.

This car cames from a big lot that i bought some years ago (was the remaining stock of my father)

I`m sure this car was sold under Pactra label, in this particular case in Kit

Miguel,
excellent! Yes, with the unmounted body, it is likely that it was boxed like the other Pactra kits, but with that Testor chassis instead of the usual brass-rod and tube job.
