the plates that go behind the brush hoods? Spring post and other screw go through the holes.
even if they are, they're kinda rough and probably need some trimming after installation.

If those are brush hood backing plates, then I would say they were rejects. The larger holes in the picture are located in different places on each piece. The smaller hole might fit a 0-80 machine screw, but I never saw 0-80 screws use to hold brush hardware on an endbell.

I'm wondering if these aren't some predecessor to the bussbars that eventually became standard endbell hardware. They still seem large even for that.
