I've been looking for a car idea for a long time to accompany my funny machine that I use to clean the rails of my slot track.

At the time, to make it, I was inspired by a creation by Guillaume MOREAU, ceramist sculptor designer.

This time, I picked ideas from Jean-marie Guivarch's Instagram pages.

I love the world of this talented watercolourist and illustrator.

As usual I start with a cardboard form and a small assembly of light wood.

Then, I carve, I adjust the wood, the brass or the aluminium.

It's comfortable, no risk of error since I do what I want by adding details that I like.

it's about making something nice to look at that can roll on a slot track.

The only thing I know for sure is that this funny car will be 1/24 scale and blue.

At first, realization of the wheels and the radiator, in aluminum,

Great start

I am looking forward to the completed project.

But I love the illustrations. First thing I thought of was The Great Race.

Thank you friends for your comments.

The body is refined, the radiator too.

For once, I'm not dealing with the chassis in parallel, I'm advancing on the details of the bodywork, drawing inspiration from vintage cyclecars that run on circuits in England.

Hi Regis,

What a wonderful project - as all your projects are!

For me, it is such a joy to view your "in-progress" photos as well as being inspiring and humbling at the same time.

Thank you for sharing your work Regis - I admire it!

Thank you.

Ernie

Very interesting. Gives me some ideas on using unusual materials for building slot cars.

Thank you all

Yes, you have to build cars, it's a real pleasure to drive with these own achievements

It moves slowly, making panels, and other accessories in plastic aluminum or brass.

Thank you friends for your kind comments.

A look back at this funny car inspired by the world of watercolorist and illustrator Jean-Marie Guivarch.

I have just finished the blue car, too bad it is not on scale 1, I would have seen it taking part in a retro Grand Prix, with its compressed eight-cylinder full of enthusiasm.

The bodywork is a little tired, but its straight eight is freshly redone.

Its weight is 166g, which is ok for a 1/24 scale car.

While I'm no expert on cars of this period, it does look like a fine & nicely detailed build to me.

The stains from the fuel filler running down behind the exhaust pipes is a nice (terrifying) touch.

You can't always get what you want...
