I recently donated my track to a local assisted living/ retirement home. Do to health and safety issues, a good friend of mine ( who I have raced with for 35 years ) and his wife had to move out of their house. We knew he would really miss not having a track in his basement so we hatched a plan. Which was to try to convince the home’s administrator to let me setup my track in her facility. We proposed, at no cost to her, an activity where residents could work on hand-eye coordination, had the chance to fellowship and get out of their rooms, maybe remembering something they had done in their youth, and a place to bring family and other visitors. It worked and now the track is up and running and available to all residents, staff, and visiting family members.

I wanted to post a picture of two female residents, one standing and one in a wheelchair getting in some laps, but apparently there are legal privacy issues. They seemed to be having fun.

Good idea. A mostly simple activity that takes little physical activity. Several of the facilities near me (they like to be called senior living centers) are pushing pickle ball, not great for persons in wheelchairs or with prosthetic legs. Others have competitive swimming events, dodgeball and even basketball. Not sports for someone like me. One has a model railroad and railfan club, but way too expensive to get into.

Clyde does the plane or the helicopter require the most hand to eye, or does it matter?

And a great idea for the track. I hope it gets years of use.

I had people from the senior home around the corner come by me once or twice.

It was mostly women but the one guy talked about having an Associated RC10 car back in the day.

It never really caught on.

What is real popular with me is the various mentally and physically challenged groups in this area.

I have three or four of them that come by regularly.

One of them comes by at least three or four times a year.

I dunno. Flying in something that has the same dead stick flight caracteristics as a brick scares me. (I know about auto-rotate. Just pokin a little fun)

By the way. I know it's a week late, but thanks to you vets here for spending a little time making this country a little safer.

The airplane, not so much because you are just going forward, hopefully, pretty straightforward, much like driving a car.

The helicopter most surely requires a lot of hand-eye coordination, especially when at hover, which is the most challenging part.

Flying sideways and backward as well.
