That was my first impression. It looks like a cardboard cut-out from when we were kids. "Tab 'A' into slot 'B' ". Oh, well. The flat panels will make it easier to "wrap", with a picture of a Porsche or Lamborghini, or anything you want, come to that. Personally, I would do a reclining, naked supermodel. Or an A1 Abrams tank. That would get those freeway snoozers to move to the right.

Of course the Pacer and Aztec.
As far as a current car, BMW really needs to tone down their trademark grill.

at least Ford tried with the Edsel. Tesla looks like they were trying to make a design copied from a paper airplane. Aztec is a close second behind the Tesla then the Edsel.

I agree re: the BMW grille !!! ... There are times when you really wish you could have been a 'Fly on the Wall', to have overheard the Board Room discussions that decided that was a Good,... no, Better / Improved 'Look' when compared to virtually ANY of their previous designs !!??
Is good that Shotguns have 2 x Barrels,... One for Each foot !!

While not as bad, they even figured out how to screw up the M2.
I loved the understated styling of the older ones.
In my 3-minute drive home from the raceway, I pass 7 car dealerships. Unfortunately, BMW is one of them.

The ugliest car ever was the Pontiac Aztec, nothing before or after even comes close.
Hey now, I owned one of those. Yes they where ugly, but what a nice vehicle. I got into places with that vehicle that a 4 wheel drive truck would have a challenge doing. Ugly but awesome!

The car was good enough for Walter White... Why did the show pick that particular vehicle?

Probably because it would be more memorable than something like a Dodge Caravan.
Now I'll Google it to get the real answer.

People are so distracted by the styling that they miss the industry-changing innovations under the skin: variable steer-by-wire, 4 wheel steering, 48 volt general systems (replacing 12v), 800 volt powertrain, gigacasting under-structure, heat-pump heating/cooling, and more. Some of these features have been seen before, usually in low volume applications, but here they are together in a vehicle that has the potential to sell in the 100s of thousands.

Speaking of the ugliest things to ever hit the road this has to be on my list.
That Edsel looks better than ANY Tesla. Things look like a pregant roller skate. Just my opinion of course.

People are so distracted by the styling that they miss the industry-changing innovations under the skin:
Speaking of the skin, the reason given for the all flat body panels was that the alloy could not be stamped or formed without cracks. This abomination is only created as a proof of concept vehicle. It will never see anything close to mass production. As James stated though, it is full of ''E-novations''.
Sometimes you never know what is under the skin. These guys wanted all the features of a Tesla Plaid with the conveniences of a mini-van.....
The ultimate sleeper.....

Rumor in the industry is the panels are made from 310 stainless steel. (Musk says it is a 300 grade stainless) This material is formed all the time in the metal stamping industry, with little difficulty. If Peter Bryant and his boys could form Titanium, (in 1969, by the way), why does Elon's wizz kids have problems with a commonly formed material? (stay away from dead sharp angles, maybe?)
