I’m out of my element here, so maybe some of you guys can help.

i just had Bud Bartos assemble a somewhat period correct chassis for me using some Pacesetter brass that was recently unearthed. i want to assemble it fairly true to the period.

Can anyone help with advice on what motor to use, and what body may have been most popular then?

I am told it’s the same plate as was used by the Group 7 champion in '74.

Thanks in advance!

Motors were Champion C-cans with Mura endbell and hardware. Most Pooch, Hi-Pro, and Bullet setups are this combination.

Bodies might have been the Lucas Matra or the O/S Ferrari. I forget when MAC reintroduced the former Lancer Porsche but it may have been before the Lucas Matras. From 1971 we went from using the Lancer Porsche coupes to the Dynamic Porsche, to the Lucas Matra, to the O/S Ferrari. I forget the exact years of the transitions.

This is what Jan raced at the 1974 Nats.

Limpach Pacesetter 5/8" fronts and orange rears, Camen built 18t24 in a Joel setup Green can.

Parma Lola T290.

Jim,

Thanks for sharing the info. Did those chassis hold up well? Seems they would bend easy.

Rember some being run for local Group 12 racing.

Thanks, Jim.

Now I can scare together some bits to put it together. I have a brand new Green can to start from.

Jan bent it in the back a couple of times during the race and loosened the gear mesh.

He just bent it back and went on to win.  :D
