Time to finish this puppy off.

Install the magnets and shim in the can, followed by the arm.  Install the endbell, then the brushes and springs.  Install a 7 tooth pinion.

Install ball bearings, then axle, 36 tooth spur gear and wheels with urethane tires.  Install front axle and wheels.

Install the guide and lead wires and we have a roller:

(Below)  The business end of the motor:

Top and bottom views:

As mentioned earlier, this is a club/home track racer, so the body I chose is more scale and less commercial racer.  While the wheel base is a rather normal 3-7/8", the chassis is only 2-7/8" wide.  The guide lead is only 3/4" because that's all will fit under the nose of the body.  To keep the wheels under the body, the wheel track is 2-15/16" front and rear.

I'm not much about paint, so I did a simple privateer livery, and used a Noose interior.  Add wheel inserts, intake stacks, a couple of mirrors and some numbers and we're ready to go:

502 Finished Car 2.jpg

Now I need to find a few sponsors to help fill up some of that blank space on the sides of the body!  :laugh2:

Looks awesome Steve! And like Rick's, the underside of the roller looks just as good as the topside.

I'm not sure if I can rest until I've found that Russkit Lotus Paxton body!!!
(in the Russkit add)
The Lola T70C is a really happening bod!!! Glad it's not (curious) yellow.
PS: looks like a Rob Walker entry w/Surtees driving.

Mark, the Lola T70 coupe is the most popular body for today's retro racers to use in the GT coupe class. Several body manufacturer's make them.

Billnh, I'm referring to the lotus in the add, not the Lola in the thread. I'll try to be clearer next time.

Easy to get confused. That ad has a few mis-labeled entries. The MacLaren M8 is labeled just as a Group 7, the Elfin as El Fin. Neither of the T-70s are labeled as Lolas.

arusskitad.JPG

The Russkit Lotus Indy wedge is certainly not one of the best I've seen. Not sure if this one is Pactra, but I remember it had a label taped to the inside. Easily the best representation of the car.

looks like that Russkit Indy Lotus turbine body has a bulge in the rear, probably for gear clearance.

also, that Russkit Group 7 is a Mclaren M6, not M8.

Dave the # 70 Lotus 56 is a Lancer body. It was my body of choice 69/69 as you could mount a 26d in a anglewinder chassis.

I did look for another reason Russkit would have added the hump behind the driver and all I could find was these pics.

I am thinking Tex is correct about gear clearance as a good reason for the hump.

The names were changed to avoid any need to pay royalties?

What body is the Russkit Lotus Paxton? I don't see it in the Russkit ads posted on this thread. Do you have another different Russkit ad?

You guys are probably right. Not M8. Not a good picture in the ad, I tried to blow it up but it just got fuzzy. Now that I look closer, the ad does say M6.

Correct its not an M8 its an M6 & the original Russkit mould has recently been found in the darkest depths of the Parma store room by Roger Schmitt, along with the T70 mkIII coupe, dune buggy and others.

Hopefully they will be made available again.

AKA Lotus 56. I've seen one up-close thst I could put my hands on. This was part of the Indy Speedway Museum collection. Did you know Ferrari had an Indy car in the 50s? I saw it too.

The Ferrari was painted red when I saw it the summer of 2022.

The car that ran the race and was driven by Ascari was red;

ferrari375indy5.JPG

The white number 6 car was driven by Johnny Parsons, and did not make the grid. He then entered his old Kurtis Kraft car and got in.

This number 7 car was entered with Bobby Ball driving. It did not make the grid.

ferrariindy4.JPG

This car was driven by Johnny Mauro. It didn't make the show. It was also painted white for the 500, with blue numbers 35.
