Another neat looking chassis Mark. Is that big guide tongue steel?  If I had built it, I might have had the pin tube hinges coming out the other ends of the hinge tubes for wider pin tube spacing. There are other ways to skin a cat too. Just add a third pin tube on the pans behind the back one closer to the pan's end.

Yeah the actually guide tongue is a cut down U-GO? tongue. and those aren’t pin tube they are just rod for the hinges. if I added my own I’d do some angled ones on the back to brace the thin pans. Maybe try to have them go to the main rails to double as up stops too.

Are there any readily available period correct bodies I can use for these? maybe some retro bodies? these chassis are around 3 1/8 wide so modern width bodies will work on them.

I would see what Ron Hershman has in the Outasight line. Also check with Steve Foster the owner of the Santa Maria raceway to see what bodies he makes. PCH might have something too.

Heres what I came up with for rebuilding stripped chassis.

This might be my only runner of the group.

The photos with the placement of the lead , I'm sure will come in handy, someday. Usually, you just see a square five pound block of lead on the drop arm. Had a feeling that it wasn't the only way or,place to put the weight.

In the 70s & 80s we never leaded droparms, just the front of the pans. We were using .040" droparms 1.25" wide, rather than the earlier ones which were narrower.
