In one of the 24ES heats I missed the first heat and there were 46 track calls in the last seven heats. Only five finished.
Wall rules will be changed to a minimum height. Not sure at this time what it is, but I think around 3" from track surface.
46 track calls in 7 heats? I was racing in a consi where there was, literally, a track call every 2-3 seconds for 4 heats (IIRC 3 minute heats). Yes... the car might go 5 feet before another track call. I believe track calls beget track calls. Annoying is one word to describe it but frustrating is a better word. Track calls reward bad driving and bad luck.

You're not allowed to work on the car during track calls, so he didn't gain any advantage because of that. The only advantage you get, if you're working on your car, is a chance to look at the car more and relax a bit.
There was a proposal submitted to raise the wall height, but I believe it was only 7 cm. Don't quote me on that.
I believe during the 32 Euro class, Gugu was eliminated because of an enormous number of track calls during his heat race. He drove a near perfect race, and missed out on the move-up.
I agree that there's an issue with the amount of track calls, but I'm not sure how to solve it. You could limit what the marshals fix on the cars. You could decrease the number of automatic track call zones. The majority of those are where a crossover occurs.
"You're not allowed to work on the car during track calls"
That might be the rule but if you go to approx. 3:25:17 when everything starts to unfold, it really appears as his hands are moving during track calls, at least during a couple of them.
The people gathered around him all to seem to be facilitating his getting car repaired.
IOW, not a steward making sure he wasn't working on his car.
Plus there was a final track call after he got his car wired the correct way, and his pit helper is definitely working on the car during the track call, pinning his body on and adjusting his braid.
During track calls in USRA wing races with a real race director, said race director would announce hands up in the pits.
I watched a little more of the race and track calls were announced and the marshal would reach straight down and put the car back in slot.
Unless the marshal was standing in the automatic track call zone, which seems highly unlikely, how could that be a track call?
I don't understand the floor being a track call if the car is accessible.
One of the times Janis was in Chicago and raced on my track, I asked him about the short walls. I forget if he explained it was for visibility or just be a shorter obstacle for the car to hit.
I'm not sure what the ISRA people are shooting for, but if the point is to keep the brushless cars off of the floor, and with the tracks all being CNC routed, you could route a 9th and 10th 3/32" slot and press in 3/32" thick clear lexan, making it as tall as they want without adding any visibility issues.
And it's incredibly easy on cars hitting it.
