Lots of really good builds.

Thanks for the YouTube link Noose, I'll check it out.

I definitely don't have the funds to buy one from every builder, but I'm open to suggestions on who to buy from. I mentioned Jersey John because he's got a legit up to date website and sounds like he will have good customer support.

You are welcome.  You can't go wrong with a JJ chassis and yes backs up his work.

I bought a used JJ chassis on Slotblog that was in rough shape. JJ contacted me to offer his continuing repair service. The man stands behind his work.

All of my chassis are warrantied for life if it has my name on it I will fix it. No charge if it's bent broken damaged I will take care of it. It doesn't matter who owns it if my name is on it I stand by it best regards racers JJ

KC,

Just like Hot Slots said above. I build my own cars, but I have also bought cars from top builders to see where I could improve mine on the track. Bartos has a chassis for sale right now on here. When I started I went with a 8 rail .047 chassis, as they are very solid and can work on a variety of tracks. To Hot Slots and the other’s points above, Hansen, JB, Jimmy Williams, Bartos or Jersey John chassis would be what most everyone considers when buying one. You can easily run the same car for can-am and coupe, as the 110gr weight will be no problem to achieve on that track.

KC there is nothing better than running you own builds. If your serious about doing your own, drop me a line. I love helping guys become successful builder/ drivers.

Exactly. And you can't get any better advice than what you will find right here. Nothing better than winning with your own build. But as I have said before, having a chassis that has won races before, doesn't mean you are going to win with it. Mike Swiss has tested every retro car I have built, and consistantly  knocks at least three tenths off my best lap time. But I still had a tremendously good time racing them. That is the whole purpose of all this. We don't get paid for it, (except for that lucky few), so it is not a job. Revel in the joy of discovering what design/set-up works best for you.

Dave, JJ, thanks for the encouragement. Right now I'm leaning towards a CanAm/GTC from JJ as well as parts to build my own stock car. Just a matter of fitting it in the budget right here at the holidays.

Kinda cool that the planning can be almost as much fun as the doing in this hobby, huh?  Sounds like a great start to your building adventure! And isn’t this crew the best?!

Building has always been my thing, from the early sixties until now. As I have said, I can't drive worth a dam, so buying a pro-built car won't help me any. I love working with my hands. And it certainly helps that there are several builders who post their work here on a regular basis. (thanks Greg for starting this snowball rolling.)

"I can't drive worth a dam".
You said it Dave! I'm in the same boat.... Or should I say slot? Just another reason to play Blue Cheer even louder when I build the next one.
Thanks J.John. any ider who made it?

To follow up here: my plan is to buy parts from one of my loc(ish) tracks and build 3 of my own cars following IRRA rules, one for each class and a double duty chassis for CanAm/GTC.

I'm not sure I'll be able to make it to the Frostbite race, so I may use these cars just to go "test and tune" here and there as I have a chance but I do hope to catch a race somewhere, sometime.
