For those only interested in detailed results and images of the winning cars, see the attachments. I have included a video recap showing all of the cars, grids and more of the race in the first reply to this post. Also included is a racing action video of heat #1 of the Trans-Am race. Enjoy! BTW, it may be a few minutes before I can post the response with links to the videos
Seven slot-heads showed up to race GT1 and Trans-Am at Electron Raceway on 12/17/24. The track was cleaned and sprayed prior to the event and was a bit loose, especially for the blazing fast GT1s.
Trans-Am Race:
The race was characterized by close competition and relatively few incidents
- Rich, driving his 69 Camaro managed to stay out of trouble and run with only a single off throughout the race finishing first with 91.4 laps
- Lowell, also driving a 69 Camaro was second about four laps behind
- The battle for the bottom step of the podium was very close and competitive with three racers finishing with identical lap counts. In the end, it was Bob, Mark and Ken for third through fifth respectively
Observations:
- Kudos to Ken who ran a personal best and nearly ended up third on the podium
- Scott ran a pretty consistent race (92.12%), however his Firebird turned a fast lap nearly .3 seconds per/lap worse than his personal best. Perhaps this was the result of a set-up problem or tired motor.
GT1 Race:
The race was characterized by several serious wrecks, taking a fair amount of time to address. Rich, Ron, Ken and Scott got the worst of it. In fact, the race was restarted three times for bad wrecks on the initial lap.
- Lowell won the race with a personal best performance of 93.3 laps.
- Ron finished second a few laps behind Lowell
- Bob was third only three sections behind Ron
Observations:
- Lowell has finished on the podium in 5 out of the last 7 races at Electron.
- Ken ran a personal best of 86.8 laps in a Blue Enzo
- Scott’s Enzo was quick but seemed inconsistent. After the race, the problem was discovered; a loose guide tongue.
