Cool pic of the wing. I'd put one on my black car (posted here) but, there's not enough left of it

I really think your black body is fixable , I could fix that as a challenge.

I'll get it to you this week. It's the rivets isn't it . It would make a great thread further illustrating your reconstruction prowess.

That was my favorite part of Atlantic City, the big bunny on a black hi-rise. Can I keep it,hu,hu,hu, I'll feed it and, pet it and, treat it like it was my own*.

Post note:
I would like to clarify that I tease Martin about rivets because he has had the experience of installing rivets of the industrial caliber by the 100's. Not fun by any account.

Ha! If you like rivets, try re-skinning a real P-40 Warhawk.

Two of my friends Older brothers had a Cox tether version of the P-40 and Stuka. One day they had a dogfight. Shards of plastic everywhere. Ahhh, my misspent youth.

Dick had a buddy with an AT-6 painted up like a Zero, and they would put on a mock dogfight at airshows around the country. I have a VHS video of it somewhere that I took. Probably find it when I move.

But we are getting way off topic here. My fault.

Perhaps just heat vents over the exhaust? It looks like a lot of hot air would be trapped underneath.

Looking at the shape of the cockpit roof, I would say that that is a low air pressure area, so most likely outlets for hot air. Just as the locations are of the exits on top of the fenders for the radiators.

I like the fact that apparently the 2F is legal to drive on public roads, at least in Texas:

The original Can-Am rules were that the cars had to be street legal. That included brake and tail lights, full wiindshield that had to be above the driver's head, a passenger seat and spare tire. As the series progressed, most of those stipulations were dropped. The 2-F, and other Can-Am cars that were fitted with rooves to run in the European endurance races, needed headlights and turn signals to run in the GT classes. Can-Am cars that ran as prototypes didn't need all that for the shorter, daytime European races, but often had them just because they were already on the cars. My guess is that Jim Hall left the license plates on to show the cars were registered for the road.

It would certainly make an interesting ride down to the market.

Don't be so sure. I drove a Porsche 917K in traffic, the most nervous I have ever been driving a car. Everything is so finicky. The clutch was mostly either in or out, not easy to slip. I had to be very careful of engine RPMs. Too low and the plugs would foul out, but I had to be sure enough fuel was passing over the intake valves to keep them cool, or they could burn. It took a full afternoon to teach me all the ins and out of the car. And I spent the whole trip driving the car and never enjoyed a minute of it.

Conversely, I drove my Jaguar Series III E-type all over the midwest. Drove it non-stop from Mid-Ohio raceway to Chicago, at times near 150 mph, and enjoyed every second. Most comfortable car I have ever owned.

Dave, IIRC, the Chaparrals were all Powerglides, weren't they?

Sorry for the thread drift.

Not all. But Jim Hall tried his best to make an automatic work in Can-Am.

I wanted to have a box with appropriate box art for this Calex kit and finding an original would be a long shot. Not to mention pricey.

I love playing around in photoshop. I can spend hours cleaning or in this case, taking a photo of the real slot cars bottom view then straighten and coloring it so it resembles what Dynamic or Calex would have done for this kit.

I do not have the real box art so I made part of this up, at least the instruction's and the bottom chassis pic. The top was detailed, cleaned and re-proportioned to fit the box, which is the same type Dynamic and Calex used. Call it fantasy box art.

It can now be displayed with the Dynamic kits as they do seem to be related.

I think my instructions were printed on light blue paper...

Yes Pekka the instructions I have seen online have been a light blue and that is why I printed my recreation on the blue paper the copy shop happen to have in stock.

If I could of found an original to copy that would have saved me hours of photo editing and of course been more accurate.

If you can remember do you think there was any image on the bottom of the clear box?

Dave, I hope you know I have never for a moment tried to fool anyone at any time with my projects. If you read my mission statement there is more than enough said to know this is my recreation of a hard to find item. I will assume you were giving me a compliment. So thank you. :)

I supposed that too, but I did a "what if" bottom pic on my version.

All the Dynamic kits had bottom pics why would this Calex not have one was my thinking ?  :o

It was meant as a compliment. You did such a good job on this project that it is nearly indistinguishable from an original. And I think I have come to know you well enough that you wouldn't try to sell it as an original.
