Nope, just the aftermarket chassis, which I think was always anodized black.

Thanks Don, so you are saying the 4854 part only came with the black chassis or could you buy just the clip and adaptors separate?

I am sure you have seen many 26d modified cars that would be evidence of the part being sold separate. But I have no facts to back that up.

Hi Martin,

No, I'm just confirming that the 26D chassis was never sold as part of a complete car. No idea if the clip and adaptor were sold separately, but since Cox sold lots of different individual parts, there's a good chance they were - they would still be lots harder to find than the standard clips for the sidewinder mag chassis cars - I've seen full boxes of those, and the standard Cuc clips can also be found.

By 26D modified cars do you mean ones with this chassis or all types? A lot of the chassis modified to use the 26D that I've seen use a hole to screw the motor into the chassis; don't remember offhand if they had the clip or not.

Thanks for your insight Don.

I was thinking about how many Cucaracha bodys I have seen cut (modified) to fit a 26d motor over the years.

The 26D clip & the adapters came with the black Cuc chassis, I got one during the late 60s. I never saw those parts selling separately, of course they might have. I was never much of a Cox follower.

Lee always has the goods  :good: thanks.

I would assume the 4854 clip would also be sold with the motor adaptors. Thoughts?

I have a clip ( same as yours Lee) and a pair of aluminum adaptors and they look professionally made to my eye  :wacko2:

Before I go any further with the tooling to make the 26d 4854 clip with the motor adaptors I will ask is this anything anybody wants?

I do love making tooling like this but it is nice to know there is a need.

I have a few 16d clips left and will probably not make more unless asked. :)

Martin it's tempting but the only 26D I have left has been in my experimental resin chassis' (chassi---chassis's ?)   I think you should do it. Ya never know!!
