snagged this BRM off the bay. chassis is spray painted silver along with the wheels but the body is really nice besides the missing exhaust and a buffered up suspension hole. the chassis is bare with no motor or guide but has the solid plastic crown.

Ill probably try to remove the goofy silver paint soaking the chassis in a solvent and piece the rest together with what parts I have. I might have a somewhat close to correct long pinion to use. my biggest issue is the motor clip and the aluminum guide post retainer. Ill probably to make my own clip and might just have to use a brass tube for the guide post. Im also pretty sure I dont have a EBD cox motor so it might just get a russkit 22 for the time being.

here pictured with my Dads untouched condition BRM haha

Can see the silver paint on the pretty corroded chassis.

Replaced the solid plastic crown with the earlier style. and yes wrong motor dont have a correct one at the moment. was able to find a long pinion though.

Light clean and polish on the body. sure is nice! just need the exhaust when I can find them. also crappy tires but this is just a shelf queen not even going to bother ever trying to run this. left the silver on the wheels, didnt want to break the tires removing them.

A set of your sexy wheel inserts would be really happening on this one!

finished. ended up buying a parts lots just to get the exhaust and it had a chassis and motor clip so I was able to swap out the crusty original one for this nicer piece. pretty much done.

I really like this car it might be new favorite. the Cox BRM holds a special place in my heart. I still remember my grandmother showing me my Dads for the first time when I was a little kid and I was obsessed with it. I always took it to the track as a kid and tried to run laps with the dried out tires. nice to have a decent shape one after always looking at my Dads as last raced poor condition one!

Love these Cox F1 cars.  Nice clean restoration  Mark  :good:

If you consider the orange nose stripe I think it adds to the look.

The car on top is a Cox static with white metal parts. The stripe on the slot car I actually set up a small cup of enamel paint, held it vertical and dipped it. No masking necessary.

thanks Martin. the orange stripe is tempting to replicate my favorite movie Grand Prix but I’d like to leave this one mostly oem. I have enough parts where I only need a body to build a runner where I’d like to add the orange nose.

So had to put some repop tires and on do some laps. surprisingly not bad with the super slow arm. would prob be really nice if I trued the old front tires but its more of a shelf queen.

Snagged this junker. a good candidate for a non oem resto since I seem to always buy cars I have no parts for. Got it mostly for the nice body and windscreen.

That's a beauty Mark.  :good:

The Cox BRM and Ferrari GP's are 2 of my all time favorite slot cars.

I have both NOS kits. I really need to put them together.......

Thanks Martin I have sourced front wheels. I was tempted to just run different wheels front and back but the original Cox wheels are too cool. also will try to fab up my own metal exhaust and radius rods for this one, should be fun.

If I remember correct there is a pic of the radius rods in the instructions. Let me find those.

I thought I had the instructions saved but I will have to scan them. But in the meantime you can see my Ferraris.

I do need to sand the blue paint from the outer edge of the rims, I missed that detail when I painted the rims. I added a bit of graphite powder (brake dust) to the wheels, gives them a bit more depth.

Mark, I bought a new Cox Ferrari F-1 in 1967. It was an ugly handling car on a commercial track. I ended up painting it fluorescent pink so it would be easier to find on the floor or under the track. That car disappeared while I had it stored at my parent's house. I didn't cry much.  :laugh2:

I plan on running this one. I’m sure it will end up on the floor like a few of my other vintage cars. my track has pretty low walls haha.

The pipes look great Mark. Did you use solder to build them as some do?

Yeah they are all soldered brass. the rear of the trans is raw solder the rest is coated in Molotow chrome marker.
