Ultrasonic removed old waterslides. sorta wanted to leave them for the original patina but body is too nice of condition. these dynamic waterslides are really close to how the cox numbers look so I will use them. its too bad someone painted the driver kinda crappy, not going to try and remove that its really glued in.

You might want to consider a disclaimer:
Warning viewing of this thread will induce profuse drooling.
Anyhoo,I'm going to guess that the decals are not reusable using the ultrasonic removal process?

Hey Mark, the driver you mention looks to me to be factory painted. Which means your car is a RTR.  :good:

Great resto. RTR, ready to reck?(sp) Thinking back, I'm amazed at how much time we put into the plastic bodies back then, only to bounce them off the wall, or even flip them onto the floor.

For drivers I usually used the mini-versions of troll dolls, dinosaur heads or Spoon Men. Spoon men came in boxes of Nabisco Shreadded Wheat, and were designed to snap onto a spoon handle.

There were several different versions. The idea was to collect them all. (by buying lots of cereal)

These mini-troll dolls were designed to fit on the eraser end of a pencil, and were just the size for 1/24th scale slot cars.

Yeah its kind of hard to tell the car is glued together pretty well. perhaps some added a little bit of extra to the factory painted driver or someone tried to copy the factory paint poorly. heads looks factory besides goggle strap.

Dave, I was wondering why they were sooo crunchy, come to think of it, they didn't really look like shredded wheats.

Thanks for different angle of the driver.

You are right someone may of added some extra paint to a factory driver or like you say tried to replicate a factory driver?

Here is a pic of the Cox Factory driver.

Looks great Mark.

Word of warning, if you can soda or glass bead the mag wheels then clear or paint blue you will not go to your slot box one day and find them all frosty.

Ask me how I found this out.

What's the next project  Mark?

Thanks! I wanted to paint them blue but sorta like the original crusty magnesium. nothing on the chopping block yet for next project.
