Friday, Mar 28, was the first day of racing at this year's Retro Rumble. The class was GT Coupe, with racers who had previously won a GTC race at an IRRA Premier Event competing in the Pro category. Eighteen racers were present, five of them GTC Pro racers.

Here's the line-up of all of the GTC cars.

The concours winner was selected by racer vote and it was Brian Ambrose who took the top spot.

GTC Am was run in two mains, with seven racers in the B Main and six in the A Main.

GTC A Main podium: L to R, 2nd Jon Bitler, 1st Brandon Eden, and 3rd Rick Moore.

Note: Brandon Eden will now be added to the GTC Pro list and will only be allowed to enter the GTC Pro race at future IRRA Premier Events. He is also eligible to run in the GTC Pro race at this race if he so chooses.

TQ of GTC Pro was, to no one's surprise, Jeff Bonanno, as he is usually very quick at Fast Eddie's. Brandon Eden, as the winner of the GTC Am race, is given the chance also to enter GTC Pro at this race, and as can be seen, he elected to do so.

Note that less than a third of a second separated the first and last qualifiers!

First class on Saturday was F1, with 18 entries. The pic below shows the cars lined up for concours voting. The racers vote for concours by placing an orange ticket in front of the car they wish to vote for.

The always-popular Can-Am class was run on the Southern Retro Rumble's last day, Sunday, and there were 24 entries brought to the tech table manned (for all three days!) by IRRA BoD member, Jay Guard. This made for an nice balanced set of three 8-man mains.

CA.cars.a.jpg

Concours, as always at IRRA Premier races, was determined by racer vote and the winner was Brian Ambrose.

CA.conc.a.jpg

Next up was qualifying and as usual at races run using IRRA rules, times were very close. TQ was the concours-winner Brian Ambrose, giving him a rare double in concours and TQ. (He won GTC concours, too!)

The spread between Q1 and Q8 was a mere .206 seconds, and between Q1 and Q16 it was only .377 secs. Doesn't get much tigher than that.

All the racers who competed at the 2025 Southern Retro Rumble. It's certain that if anyone didn't have a great time, it was their own fault. Racers came from as far away as Ohio and Pennsylvania.

The Overall Champion of the 2025 8th annual Southern Retro Rumble, based on his finishes in the four classes (third in GTC Pro, first in F1, fifth in Stock Car, and second in Can-Am) is Brandon Eden. Congrats to the champ!

Consistency pays off. Your win in FK coupe then moving up and getting a fine third in Pro was great!
