                                                              Can-Am Decals - Tips & Hints

These decals will enhance the accuracy of any CanAm or period race car. Sponsor stickers on most CanAm machines changed almost weekly as they traveled from track to track during the series. For example, "Pure" was used only in races in the Eastern US, while "76" would only appear at West Coast events like Las Vegas, Riverside, and Laguna Seca. Tech inspection stickers are included for those tracks as as well as Road America, Bridgehampton, Mosport, and St. Jovite. These are really small and a magnifying glass is strongly recommended to help select the correct item. Tech inspection stickers were usually placed on either front fender (usually in the "headlight" area), roll bars, and occasionally windshields and the leading edge of the rear bodywork in the cockpit area....

Hewland logos (the small winged decals in black & silver) are for the tail end of the gearbox. Most Can-Am machines used Hewland gearboxes, aside from the Chaparrals and a few assorted oddball cars. Hint: the logo was usually screened on an aluminum plate and bolted in place. One of these decals and a bit of photo etch or Bare Metal Foil is a good way to duplicate this. (Also looks great on those '60's-'70's FI cars!) Johnson Wax "flotile" stickers were used in '66, '67, and again in '70. The "Can-Am '68" and "Can-Am '71" stickers were only used in those seasons... As in all modeling, use of good photo references is a must to get the out of this decal sheet - and that's half the fun!  All the best with your Can-Am builds!!

Dave:

Are these water-release decals or the peel-n-stick type?
