Racing:      Coupes on the Aristocrat

          Can-Am on the Sovereign

 

Please note the NERR General Race Event Procedures listed below.

 

NERR’s 9th Race of the season will be held in conjunction with the Modelville Hobby Retro Marathon. Saturday’s races (the Coupe Race on the Aristocrat and the Can-Am race on the Sovereign) will score points in the overall NERR season standings.

 

Note that the Coupe Race will be run with handout motors as part of the Retro Marathon.

 

This will be the final race of the season in the Can-Am class and the top three contenders are separated by just ten points as George Wixon (142), Woody Hazelwood (136), and Dave Gesner (132) battle for the championship.

Recommended set up for Coupes on the Aristocrat:

     Braid depth: .015”

     Body: RTR, Red Fox, or JK Lola T70

     Gearing: 11:27 seems to be the best option

     Tires: Thunder medium, Mid-America medium.

     Weight: 111 – 116 grams

     Times to shoot for:  4.2 – 4.3 seconds is a good target

Recommended set-up for Can-Am on the Sovereign:

     Braid depth: .030” minimum up to .035”

     Body: If you want to score concours points, run something other than a Ti-22 (see separate post re: concours scoring for this race ONLY)

     Gearing: 11:27 is a good place to start

     Tires: Medium Thunder, Mid-America Medium, Kelly Retro

     Weight: 108-114 grams

     Times to shoot for:  7.0 – 7.1 seconds

NERR General Race Event Procedures and Schedule:

 

Track will be open for practice on Friday at 9:00 am for practice. Pit pass for the day is $10.00.  Note: The Retro Marathon will be running Stock Cars on the Royal on Friday evening. Raceway closes at 10:00 pm or thirty minutes after the completion of the Stock Car race.

 

Track opens Saturday morning at 7:00 am.

 

Entry fees for each class will be collected at tech, cash only please.

 

Entry fee for Coupes is $35 and includes one handout motor; entry fee for Can-Am is $15. Saturday pit pass is $10 for the day.

 

Tech opens at 9:15 am, qualifying starts at 10:00 am.

 

NOTE: Qualifying will be for one minute with positions determined by total laps and sections. Ties will be decided by faster time.

 

Cars in Tech shall be impounded and not handled by the car owner or other racers. 

 

Lane selection will be immediately after qualifying. Drivers who are not present during lane selection will be assigned a lane at random by the race director.

 

Race heats will be 3 minutes in length with two minutes between heats.

 

Prior to the start of each Main a one-minute warm-up will be provided. Sit-outs (if any) have the option of a one-minute warm-up.  

 

Tech will open for Can-Am 45 minutes after conclusion of the Coupe race or as stated by the Race Director. Qualifying will begin 45 minutes after Tech opens.

 

Races are “one and done” with no move-ups. Overall finishing positions will be by total laps and sections regardless of Main.
