Jairus did this for me a number of years ago. A bit of a tongue in cheek nod to the wood bulkhead construction of the Mantis. He was quite excited at the time to try a new wood grain method. It looks good enough that you can almost get a sliver.
A great talent gone far too soon.

Jarius painted this Dynamic Super Bandit clear body replica for me at a time when no decals were available. He created each one and did a splendid job!

Just found out about the passing of Jarius. What a shock. We were the same age. We both loved slot cars and shared many ideas on his next build.
He was a very talented artist, engineer, and had a very vivid imagination. He was always pleasant and friendly. Would go out of his way to make sure you were satisfied with his work. I'll miss him and will show some of his work he has done for me.
The last car I got from him was the Simi Sled reverse Cuda funny car that was on the cover of Hot Rod cartoons that both he and I read faithfully when we were growing up. After I got the car from him he mentioned that it would be in Model Cars magazine. Here is the issue that it was in. After I got the car I wanted to make a great display case showing his work and the cartoon magazines that inspired him.
I also have a slot box with eight of his cars he built and painted for me. Notice the orange Detroit slider in the top row.
He also built a candy apple red hot rod that I used to have.
He even worked in HO scale. I had him paint a Ricky Bobby #13 slot car.
All I can say about him is 'hot rods forever,' good buddy.

I'm saddened to come across this news of Jairus having left us.
Though his physical body is gone, I feel blessed to have known him through our website and his legacy will live on!
The projects he has shared on Slotblog was/are an inspiration for my own projects.
I know he's seeing our posts about him, so I'll say "I know in spirit that you are well, but we're missing you, Jairus!"
Thank you for all the time you shared with us.

Not just a builder... he was a Slot Car Master. I could only look in wonder at one of his creations. He truly left an unmatched legacy within our hobby.
