JK used a hole saw type cutter in a drill press to cut out his donuts for years. He had a couple cutters with different size blades. IIRC those cutters were made by Chuck Gambo, who also mounted the donuts on wheels and ground the O,D, on a grinder he also designed.

I second the motion.
Billnh, DUH, I didn't think of that. I suppose the outside would be sanded off. 🤔 let me see if I can commandeer some.

Phil,
If you could show a picture of it, I love to see it! Tools, dies and jigs to build and make things are very interesting to me and I'm sure others on here also.
Ken

It will be some time before that happens, sorry. It's on top of the office (no stairs) and I don't go up there often.

The tool cost (IIRC) $500 in 1978.... That's about $2400 in today's money. Sonic made a lot of tires based on that tool but times change and the sales of those tires dropped to where making them wasn't worth it any longer.

Mark, if yours isn't long enough, I got an 24' aluminum down cellar.  :laugh2: I bet Phil has other things squirreled away above the office too. I envision this hole cutter to be similar to a hole saw, but with cutting knife blades instead of teeth. I could be totally wrong. It might be a stationary die used with a press. That's how shoe soles were made when I had a part-time job in a shoe factory while going to HS & college in the 60s.
