So I can do it myself instead of having a moderator clean it up for me...

To clean it up, and establish a "titled link" you type:
{url=slotblog.net/index.php?showtopic=12885} Pablo's Post{/url}
Except you use [ & ] where I typed the { & } to keep it from activating.
Putting the correct brackets in place gives:

We'll see if that is right...
Cool...
Pablo,
This was Bill's example....
{url=slotblog.net/index.php?showtopic=12885} Pablo's Post{/url}
Wherever there is a { bracket in the above line, put a [ bracket.
Wherever there is a } bracket, put a ]
One last thing, make sure you put a space between the 885] and the P in Pablo's Post
Oh, and don't add any '&' symbols.

Paul shows the final results but not the steps to get there. Brackets [ & ] with the url= & /url properly positioned, activates the raw HTML. In order to show you where to place them, I put in the blue { & } instead of brackets so you could see where they go before it activates.
Thus my statement of, "Except you use [ & ] where I typed the { & } to keep it from activating." Once you have everything in the proper places, the Preview Post & Add Reply buttons give you a "titled link" like what Paul shows or I showed on the last line of my first post. These "titled links" are clickable. Click on one and you go to its address.

This is why I don't post links (unless I copy and paste them) or pictures.

I don't know about that, my brain is full, I'd have to forget something to make room.

Let me add a little more info.
What is being used here isn't really HTML but rather BBcode, which is basically a subset of HTML and which uses square brackets, i.e. [], to enclose the code tags.
To illustrate code formats without "activating" them, we have to substitute other symbols for the square brackets, i.e. curly brackets like this: {}. To make the code functional, replace the curly brackets with the matching square brackets, i.e. [ for { and ] for }.
The basic BBcode format is {code}...{/code}
Examples:
{email}gwells@mindspring.com{/email} which gives gwells@mindspring.com when "activated"- a clickable mail-to link.
{b}Slotblog{/b} which gives Slotblog when activated.
{color=red}Slotblog{/color} which gives Slotblog.
{url}www.slotblog.net{/url} which gives www.slotblog.net - a clickable URL.
As indicated above, to do what I call a "titled link", this code format is used:
{url=www.slotblog.net}Slotblog{/url} which gives Slotblog when activated.
The email link works similarly:
{email=gwells@mindspring.com}Greg Wells{/email} which gives Greg Wells.
Mulitiple codes can be combined, as in this example:
{b}{size=3}{url=www.slotblog.net}Slotblog{/url}{/size}{/b} which gives Slotblog when activated.
