Terry Schmid, Mike Morrissey and Tony P. were experimenting with the slab/rod drop arms by the fall of 1966. With the R&C Sport Car rules I made the call for no brass plate drop arms to keep brass plate and strip, except for the motor bracket, completely out of the mix. These rules are a balancing act.
PS. The brass rod arm helps improve everybodies soldering and bending.
Great build, Froggenheimer....
Maybe... someday.... I'll get the "hang" of bent drop arms...
But, there isn't any amount of practice that's going to prevent me from wasting three pieces of brass rod to build one drop arm....
Hence, the reason I built my current cars w/ the layered drop arm... Lack of building talent, & lack of time & $...
It certainly isn't for lack of trying....
But... as Keith has informed me that my stuff won't pass tech in our next series, I'll be rebuilding my stuff...
But... I'll do it, to remain within the "spirit" of D3 racing....
Keep posting these kind articles.... The photos speak volumes, & give people the visual aid to understand the concept of scratchbuilding....
Take care, buddy....
Good racing....
