Did you not, philippe, show me one of the prototypes of the Conquest.15 after I brought up my fondness for things like the Oly?

I collected these Cox .049 gas cars about 10 years ago, sold all except a near mint Dune Buggy in original box- what is that worht nowadays? 10 years ago when io collected them it was worth around $300......
I too was one of the many kids who flew control line palnes, first rtr plastic Testors and Cox, then built them from balsa wood kits, Sterling Ringmaster, etc, etc. I looked into getting back to control line last year, may just do it some day. there are new almost ready to fly kits now..used to sand, paint with "dope", wet tissue paer.....forget the correct steps, used to have it all in a notebook then, have som eold parts and tools from then in the basement as well as 2 .049 bals planes i buiilt- wil take pix some day.

I can't forget the Cox dragster since I never even knew they made them!
Thanks for sharing, they are wonderful to look at in amazement.

Not to be out done I decided to modify the Vega.
Added new very W I D E foam tires that fit the hex axle perfectly, a larger tin fuel tank placed where the chute went and cut the top "Logghe" frame rail under the headers for even more bite. I got the tires and fuel tank at Highway Hobby House on RT17 (NJ) which was a Slot car only store before the crash. The wheel/tires were from a carpet burner (I think) and the fuel tank was for an airplane. The larger fuel tank gave me plenty of time to adjust the needle valve and run about a 1000 ft string.
I think I tried the the chute once..too much of a pain, so the white w/blue Cox chute was still in perfect shape. held on to the chute, cap, original tank, tires and little frame bits into the mid 80s.
Put the car on a (out of reach) display shelf in my future son-in-laws room. "His Mother" (damn it ) threw the car (w/spares) out when "re-arranging" his room (and my life) and I wasn't looking in Oct. of 1986.
Geez.... can't believe I'm still pissed over that one

The rear tires look to be in exceptional condition. I know that this is a key element for buyers and parts chasers of these.

Idiotic mongrel with too short of a wheelbase and completely wrong weight distribution for tether operation. What a waste of energy.
PDL it goes straight on a line it is called Drag Racing and we had lots of fun with these cars as kid's.
