Slotblog can have a "Chaparral Show-n- Tell"; you know, Chappies that the guys have put together and/or raced.

Here's a slightly different one - the same Monogram re-issue body:

But underneath:

The rear wheels are TSRF with inserts made from the Monogram kit rear wheels, the front wheels are the kit wheels and tires modified to work on a 3/32" axle.

Turned out that the 16D was way too much power, so eventually I changed it out for a Falcon 4 and it ran really nice.

The car is now in England with a collector.

Wow Marty! How did you go about getting the ol' texans number?

I'm jealous.

By the way, the cars looks great and the chassis super clean too. What kind of motor and gear are those?

My 2D has the original Monogram chassis with a K&B big can and cox gear.

It was during the Vintage races at Road America in WI. They had a display of the restored Chaparrals and an autograph session w/Mr. Hall. A very gracious and humble man!

Thanks! The gears are parts box and I believe it is a Monogram motor. I raced it in a Vintage Race Series I was involved in. Of course I had different tires on it. When I decided to take it to get it autographed I put what I believe are original wheels and tires.

Pete,

They are pricy, but Tom Andersen makes wheels and tires and inserts for Chaps...in fact, you've seen them on my 2E that you did wing strut work on for me (which I can't thank you enough, now I just need to find where I put my double sided tape!).

Also, Jerry carries Daytona stocker tires that are 27mm diameter, which works out to be about 1.06 in - they come set screw or 5-40 threaded. I know this is not keeping with tradition but they are a really nice option.

To the rest of youse guys, NICE Chappies! :)

Hey Marty,

Are there any pictures posted somewhere of the vintage race you referred to? I'd love to see some of the cars that ran.

Let me know.

Mikey,

Thanks for the heads up on the wheel/tire deal, however all parts are in house. The only thing missing is some effort on my part, I'll get there ! ;)
