With the Amateur's running in their own event in GT Coupe, 5 Pro's signed in for the event. Practice showed that the motors were very hot, and most drivers were concerned about the heat and reliability for the event. Qualifying was up first, How fast could the Coupes go ?

Matt Bruce jumped out front in heat 1. Bill Gerhart took the lead in heat 2 only to have Matt take the lead back in the 3rd heat. Randy Kohr's motor went south in heat 3 and Dale Granger's went up in smoke in heat 5. By the 6th heat Matt Bruce had a 3 lap lead when Bill Gerhart's motor slowed. This moved Bob Young into a podium spot. Matt coasted home for the win with a 5 lap lead and his first Mason-Dixon win off the season. Matt used a BRUCE Chassis, a 9-28 gear, and Thunder rubber rears. Bill Gerhart finished second with a JK SKUNKWORKS and Bob Young scored a podium in a SKUNKWORKS.

Too much voltage does that to these motors...
12.5 volts, no AC leakage and they run great all day long.
Congrats to Matt, he is some tough dude out there!

"AC Leakage" typically describes insulation breakdowns on current carrying conductors but I believe you are referring to ripple current typically experienced with low quality switcher power supplies. If so, then I can assure you that is not an issue at the TRACK.
"Too much voltage", although possibly a contributing factor, I would question how much so, but certainly something to look at.
I suspect that the very bitey surface at the TRACK that makes it race so well was as contributory as any electrical issues and as folks get to know that track better, Falcon motor issues will become a non issue
but, we do agree on one thing, that Matt is one tough dude out here or anywhere I suspect
