Hi Larry,
NASCAR Daytona doesn't get involved with their member short tracks unless someone files an appeal. It used to be easier to win a Supreme Court case than an appeal in Daytona and often the Frances would increase a fine to stop the appeals.
The Fairgrounds Speedway at Nashville did have a lunch program that stopped many problems before they became problems. Every local driver (in person) had to pick up their pay after the race, that's the only time your winnings were available. If the track personal thought there may ba problem brewing the "brewers" were invited to a 12:00 lunch next week. If you didn't attend you didn't race that night. There was usually around 10 drivers and all the track officials there. After a nice lunch was catered, and paid for by the drivers, everyone was usually quite relaxed and many problems and tempers relaxed simply by discussion.
As far as what was on TV Sunday night... I believe that was about as real as Days of Thunder. Even wide, banked quarter mile tracks tear up a lot of equiment. Pop a wall the wrong way even at 50-60 MPH can tear up $10K of parts. The Saturday night cars do well to break even when everything is going right. The other drivers aren't going to put up with three or four drivers out to get each other and them tearing up equiment in other people's wrecks.
Bowman Gray ain't gonna sell many tickets to watch a 5 car feature. That's what attrition leads to.
Racing isn't as glamorous as TV may make it seem. Anyone that runs 60 t0 80 races a year is worn out by November. The full time folks relish the short periods at the track when it's quiet and you can talk. Only a handful of people ever get much finacial rewards. If a person really enjoys a fight it's a lot cheaper and more rewarding to join the WMCA and get in a boxing league.

Larry the production and filming looked to be very well done.
Some exciting footage, the cars are awesome!
Better than pinks.
But it was made more for soap opera appeal than technical content.
I've seen a couple nicely filmed car shows lately made unwatchable by their lame stories.

I was surprise the story was around Jr Miller @ Burt Myers, both of them being top shoes in the Southern Whalen Modifild Series. Burt having won the North south shootout the last 2 years in Concord N.C.I agree with you on the story. But for me any time I can see a Mod on tv I'm pretty happy Larry

Personalities in the show remind me so much of what I ran into when I was doing the WISSOTA Pro-4 class in the '90s
Some replace panels every race if they get a rock chip. Others are lucky to have the tow money.
Some put you in the wall if you try to pass. - Others move over if they see you in thier rear view.
