OK, gang... first painting of bodies in over 20 years. Killer on the eyes at this old age.

If anyone is a golf fan then you know what TaylorMade means. Some detailing work on this one... it's for my first Can-Am car.

Some of you guys really amaze me. I do good just to get the decals almost straight.

Nice job, Noose.

In anticipation of his return for the East Coast D3, a Lola has been prepared for the one and only Tony P.

Noose,

Awesome work! The East is rising with some brilliant-looking cars. A national monster is growing every day . . .

Is Tony P. really coming to Retro Can-Am?

As of right now, Tony P is coming back. He and John Gorski were testing cars at Trains & Lanes awhile back. I've been talking to him over the last couple of weeks and this body was done to the specs he gave me. It's actually done in the colors and the number that Barry D (DeShong) always used. Barry was one of the great guys back in the day who drove had this awesome 1/1 '68 Mustang GT. When I saw Barry about 6 years ago, he was still driving it! We're trying to find Barry, who may be quite up there in age now, so we hope he's still around.

 Very nice . . . !

How much is hand-painted and how much is masked and sprayed?

As Jarius says . . . "No decals were harmed in the making of this body" so all of the lettering is hand-done. All of the "tyres" were masked and sprayed individually. Detailed by hand on outside.

Noose, I use frisket, vinyl, and masking tape to mask the inside and "One Shot" sign paint for the lettering. So, I am wondering what you use please?

All of those except the One Shot paint. Haven't gotten it yet. So I am lettering with Kustom Kolor or Pactra, which means do not make a mistake cuz taking it off leaves an embedded mark on the body. As an artist, you can relate it to doing pen and ink drawings. Screw up and start over from scratch! I also use some things like hole protectors from the stationary store. That's how the tires were masked on this. Multiple layers. One thing about some masks is that they leave some residue behind so you have to remove it with lighter fluid - AFTER THE PAINT IS DRY! That's pretty much it.

Noose, is the body in the cover shot of the Car Model issue containing the PvA chassis article also one of your paint jobs? :?:

Bill, that's a Dave Bloom body.
Look just below the thumbwheel on the vernier caliper for the db symbol.

Bob, I was recalling from memory that it looked similar to Noose's work. I guess the old memory isn't what it used to be. I once met PvA at a Car Model race and didn't know who he was. :wall:

No, it's a Dave Bloom body. But Pete did run mine, too. Good ol' Black Bart.
